Since when did the QC in TSV open only for QF flights? Is this another "enhancement" I missed? I'm flying JQ to SYD because they offer a direct service and QF don't. Just outrageous. QF/JQ won't be getting any more of my business if I'm heading to TSV from now on!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Aren’t most QP opening and closing hours based on QF flight times?

I'd love to know where the VA lounge is in TSV if you think the competition is better.

There isn't one and I am aware of that. I chose JQ over VA because I thought I had lounge access. If I knew I didn't, I would have chosen to fly VA knowing they didn't have a lounge.

From my experience it's definitely based on QF flight times.

It's the same problem in DRW (most of the JQ flights are red-eyes and the lounge is only open if the QF829 red-eye is also operating) and SIN (the lounge opens at 1430 which doesn't help a lot of JQ/3K passengers).

Hmm, perhaps should have chosen QF for your flight if you wanted access to the QF lounge.

Seems you didn't want to fly QF based on your above comment.

Same at OOL where the Club shuts during the day when QF flights aren't on

But imagine the outcry here if QF decided to block F lounge access to those flying JQ to NZ etc...
Then one should really book Qantas metal if one values First lounge access that much. Again, it's the Qantas Club and the Qantas lounges, not the Qantas Group Club and Qantas Group lounges.

JQ has marketed and associated itself closely enough to QF that it would not be unreasonable for a JQ flyer to expect lounge access if entry conditions are met.

The same cannot be said for the Virgin/Tiger relationship.

But only if QF has a lounge that is open, surely you wouldn't expect QF to have a lounge open at a time they didn't have flights.

Two points
- I disagree that JQ markets it's Qantas association with any vigour. It seems to prize its independent identity.
- one of the conditions of entry is that the lounge has to be open, so clearly the conditions of entry are not all met.

I think that there is enough of an association given JQ offers you the option to earn QFF points and SCs and gives you lounge access if you are QP, SG, WP. Published lounge entry rules lists JQ flights as eligible but no mention of time restrictions. The only way you'd know you have no access is by checking the opening hours or showing up on the day and finding the lounge closed.
