Greetings all!

So here I am again asking for some advice about stuff to do with QANTAS.

Here is my question I'm hoping some of you may have some ideas about.

My fiance and I are going to spend out honeymoon in Hawaii in May this year and as I have an AMEX QANTAS card, I receive (hopefully, I haven't got them yet!) two complimentary QANTAS Club passes seeing as I purchased our flights using this card.

Now I was wondering if anyone has had any success with using only ONE of these to get two people into the Club lounges?

My problem is that we are trying to save to go to London before the end of the year and would like to be able to keep one of the passes to use for this later trip.

I know it it kinda scabby but if we could get away with using just one per trip, it would mean a little extra luxury for us both.

Does anyone have, or has heard of, any experiences with using one pass to get two people in?

Any comments (not too nasty though!) would be most welcome - I really don't wanna hear that "You are not a paying member and you cannot blah blah blah" as I saw one poor woman subjected to when she was asking about club passes a while ago!

Thanks to any who can offer advice!

Zoe. :)

Unfortunately it's one person per pass, so unless you can find someone willing to donate one to you, you'll be subjected to the rules.

Perhaps someone on here will have one they can donate to you though (I don't sorry!)

Hey Drewbles (hmm.. is that from Harry Potter - your nickname? ;)

Anyways - thanks for your very fast reply! I will wait any see if anyone else has had any luck though.

I don't think I'll go asking for passes as that is what made many people so angry at the other lady who asked for them. But thanks for the tip :)

Hoping you're having a fab Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie Day

One person per pass.

However sometimes if you are lucky they may not collect them...

TIP:
1/ I suggest you save them for a use when you expect to be in the lounge for a longer, or where you have two long flights (such as a trip to Europe) when having a shower in the lounge in between flights would be a major (or at least to me) bonus.

2/ Have your wife get her own card so that you can earn another two passes.

Classic! You can buy them on ebay I think, but they are ridiculously expensive ($50 for one).

Which is fraught with risks. In particular, there was a rash of forged cards being sold on ebay early last year.

Also, check out the travel movements of members here at AFF, FT and ba97 to see if there's someone nice enough who may be able to guest either one or both of you in if travelling around the same time.

Wow - that would be a great idea! If anyone is willing to do that, we are flying to Hawaii on Sun 30th May, the flight leaves at 19:40 (from Sydney).

Just on the off chance that someone may be flying that evening, that would be super :D

Your not a paying member BLAH! ;) :D

I'd back up the advice to save the passes for your europe trip. having that shower half way is great. If your husband getting an amex doesn't come off then definitely save them for the europe trip, IMO

BTW the other lady you referred to, if it is who i think, the problem for me there was that they wanted to save things for their friends, but expected us to just hand over to her. The question I had in my head was "What I'm not allowed to have friends as well?"

The problem with her was she was demanding that we give her stuff in her first post and then being extremely argumentative when we wouldn't give her something for nothing...

My suggestion is -
Do either of you fly QF at least some what frequently? If so it may be worth your while to purchase one qantas club membership and then guest in the other partner. Whilst it can be expensive to simply purchase membership, considering you have a couple of flights planned it may be worth your while.

Otherwise save you passes for your europe trip...
Using the club half way during a long trip for a shower is a life saver (for both you and your fellow passangers :D) and it's nice to have somewhere comfortable to go whilst waiting.

Most people won't have posted their travel for May yet, check back on those links closer to the date and make an approach then. Never know your luck.

Hardy har har har ;)

And I think I'll try and save them for our longer trip, I think your (and almost everyone elses) is right.. but I'll still try my luck at getting entry to the club before we leave for our honeymoon :D

And perhaps I didn't read that whole thread properly (about the other lady), thanks for the insight - I understand a little more now why most people felt a little put out - I think I might have too!

Thanks again for all the advice peoples - keep it coming!

Any other tricks or tips to be abe to get into the QC lounge would be fab

Ooops :oops: missed the Zoe at the end.

Still future husbands are allowed to get their own cards too ;)

hahaha, that's okay - don't feel bad

and yep, you're right! I'll see if he can apply for one, he doesn't have much of a credit rating (I have all the credit cards and manage the $'s, but it's worth a try!)

Thanks :)

Hi harvyk,

Thanks very much for your reply. And again - I think I didn't read the entire post/s properly. It would be extremely generous to just give out these passes to someone you don't know - but to someone who whinges when they don't get it??? That'd certainly turn most people off wanting to help.. totally understood.

And I'd considered just one of us joining, but neither of us fly for work or anything like that, so I don't know if it would be worth the money.. but I will keep it as an option as we get closer if we can't find another way to go about it.

And as you suggested, I'm seriously considering keeping them for the Europe trip - but it'd still be lovely to use them for the Honeymoon - decisions, decisions!

Thanks for your advice though :D

My suggestion is to buy the QP membership. Its great if you have lots of travel and as I have referred to in other posts, its a two for one as you can always get a guest in as part of the membership.
Also gives you priority check in, baggage tags, ability to upgrade on points in the lounge. Access to BA & AA lounges as well. I look at the cost and divide by two. There is a discounted membership via this forum or your employer may have a corportate scheme.

Have a look for the thread about justifying the cost of QP membership, it offers good perspective on the investment.
