Hi All,

I'm getting some mixed messages regarding access to AA AC lounges on a QF Club membership.

If I go by the QF website, it pretty much states that you can have 1 guest plus up to 2 dependant children under 18 on the one QF Club membership.

I can't see this anywhere on the AA website. So being the 'I just can't let it go' person that I am, I emailed Admirals Club via the AA website. They came back and said that it's only 1 guest, whether that be an adult or 1 child. Now I'm quite confused as this is in direct odds with the QF website... It pretty much states everywhere that AC members and their children get access to QF lounges here in oz so I'm sort of thinking there would be a two way reciprocal type arrangement here.

I've gone back to the person from American Airlines and (again) referenced the QF website with screenshots. They have now escalated it to get clarification but I'm thinking this shouldn't be so hard - especially when the reverse is pretty much stated everywhere :)

If anyone has experiences with this they I'd appreciate some thoughts. I know QF just changed their policy to allow 2 children under 18 with a QF Club member and still allow a guest (well I think it's a new thing) so maybe this change is still working its way through the system...

Ultimately it's up to each individual airline to determine how many (and what sort of) guests it allows in with its members, or those members of alliance airlines. "Reciprocal rights" is really talking about the member's entry, rather than suggesting that the entry policy for guests of the member will mirror that of the home airline.

As an aside, I think it's actually a bit rich to expect that, as one 'reciprocal rights' QC member, I should be allowed to bring three extra people into an AA Lounge. Four people on one membership? I think that is unreasonable - unless the children are both very small. If they are, say, 15 and 16, they should be counted as adults.

I see the new wording, and would go to the lounge knowing I may be turned down with 1 adult guest and two kids, despite the wording by Qantas, as it’s not their lounge. Ask nicely, but would probably work better with younger-looking children. ;)

Hi JohnPhelan, thanks for your reply. Just to be clear here, when I'm talking about reciprocal, I'm not meaning whatever QF Club members get, this should be accommodated by partner airlines around the world, I'm meaning AA club members are allowed to enter QF Club lounges with a guest and up to 2 children. So.... I'm not expecting this at all, in fact, having been a QF Club member for nigh on a week, I don't expect much at all really apart from an understanding of what the rules are.

I'm looking at this not with a sense of entitlement but more trying to interpret what QF are saying on their page and how this translates into AA's understanding. If QF are advising incorrect information, then this should be changed. If they're right then obviously it shouldn't be a problem. For me, I'm just looking for clarity before departure. To clarify the above and for those that may not have seen the page, the qf website specifically states access for a guest and 2 children under 18 in AA owned Admirals Club lounges... Not Associated Lounges but specifically AA owned and operated lounges - this is in the families section almost at the bottom of the page (I haven't posted enough to put a link in yet :) ) yet AA don't seem to know about this - at least the couple I've had contact with about it...

Anyway, I'll be approaching it as samh004 has suggested. At worst, I could pay the $50USD fee for lounge entry if I want it bad enough on the day :)

Oxymoron:

Clear concise accurate reliable Qantas lounge access policy at partner lounges.

Google that exact sentence / sequence of words and you are unlikely to get any results.

I managed 3920 results ;) :p

But I sense that’s not what you meant :D

I maybe should have said many rather than any. Try googling snooki (don't click the links though) and you will get 10 million results ;)
