Hi there,

I'm sure that this has been posted previously but i couldn't find it. I am just trying to get something clear. I am travelling to the USA this year (November) and was thinking of getting a Qantas club membership, but would just like to know if by getting it i would be granted access into the American Airlines Admirals clubs, i have a few flights as well on US airways.

Many thanks in Advance

Oh on another note, when you are coming back to Australia and want to access the new lounge, however are declined (from what i have read on another post) how do you get to the AA club in T4 when you are already in the Terminal TBIT Terminal?

You must be flying on a Qantas or Jetstar flight to access the Admirals Club:

Each time you travel on a Qantas or Jetstar flight number you will have access to:
  • All Qantas owned and operated lounges^ within Australia and overseas
  • Emirates Business Lounge in Dubai
  • American Airlines® Admirals Club lounges in London and other locations - visit www.aa.com for lounge locations
  • Associated lounges in most international ports that Qantas flies to but where there is no Qantas or partner airline lounge. Our associated lounges are operated by, or on behalf of, other airlines – view the associated lounge network
When you arrive at a lounge, show your Qantas Club card along with your ticket or boarding pass. Don't forget your next onward flight must be with Qantas or Jetstar to access the lounge.

if you are only considering buying a QP membership for the forthcoming trip, then you should look at buying an Admirals Club 30 day membership. its a FULL AC membership, and also entitles you to enter QCs in Australia. A lot cheaper.

AND it might be the case that they will let you into the TBIT One World lounge at LAX (AKA the Qantas Lounge there). Bit of discussion on this here.

Qantas club membership gives you access to all AA clubs. You do not need to be flying Qantas or Jetstar. An AA flight number will do.

But as others have said, the 30 day pass if much much cheaper and will do exactly the same thing as joining QF club, but saving you hundreds of dollars. You can even use the AA pass prior to departure of your QF flight in Australia (but without benefits such as priority check-in).

Yes... I have never had an issue accessing an AA lounge with a QF club.

If you are flying in November, you should be okay in the LAX Oneworld lounge as the Qantas First lounge is finished and the final extension to the OW lounge will be finished by then... well, I hope.

Not the relevant part.

This part of QF website may help the OP:

"Partner Lounges
When travelling with American Airlines, as a Qantas Club member you and a guest are welcome at American Airlines Admirals Club lounges. Simply present your Qantas Club card together with your boarding pass at the lounge reception. Both you and your guest need to be travelling together further that day on a flight marketed^ and operated by the partner airline whose lounge you wish to visit."

Yes, I was worried with the wording about qantas or Jetstar code but was put back in my box by PF and had no problems flying just on AA in October.

Note that with the 30 day admirals club membership you can enter any open admirals club you can physically access at any time - you do not need to be flying (although that is generally a prerequisite to get to the front door of those that are airside). You could be flying UA for example.

However to access a QP as an Admiral's Club member you need to be flying QF or AA.

Hello
My brother, father and myself are travelling to Tokyo on Qantas in a few weeks and have a 7 hour transit in Melbourne. We were thinking of getting a thirty day admirals club pass to gain access to the Qantas Club. Will all three of us be able to access the lounge on one pass? and will we be able to access all Qantas clubs and international business class lounges?
Thanks for your help

So has anyone been able to gain access to the LAX TBIT oneworld lounge with the 30 day AC membership? It isn't listed on the AC website as a lounge that you can access, but seems ambiguous?

There has been a change to the terms of Admiral's club membership and it would seem no access at the oneworld TBIT lounge unless on an AA flight number. An Admirals Club member (1 yr or 30 day) can, if they have enough time, access the A/C at T4 before heading over to TBIT.

Any thoughts on QC members getting into the OW TBIT lounge if i have a QF codeshare flight on an AA flight out of T4. Ive seen mixed ambiguous reports.

Seems pretty clear that this should be allowed:

Next onward flight that day must be a Qantas, or Jetstar Airlines+ flight number

Your quoting Qantas Club rules not American Airlines Admirals Club rules
