An interesting analysis of QF schedules from @vhebb on airliners.net from Sep 2018

Looks like QF A332s will expand international services with QF from around September 2018 with SYD-HKG, SYD-KIX, SYD-BKK, SYD-PVG, and SYD-PEK all seeing A332s being operated in a 27J/237Y config, I can only assume this will be the 8 IFE fitted A332s - VH-EBM-EBV.

I can still see a few SYD-PEK flights being sold as 36J/199 which means either EBG/EBL will still be operating in that config or the seat maps haven't been updated yet.
...
the A333s operate a few more SIN and AKL flights from SYD/MEL and BNE

So likely less 332s on domestic routes and a possible downguage (at least for Y seats) on some Asian routes.

Our SYD-KIX flight last week was downgraded from A333 to A332 which was very disappointing.
At least when they will finish refurbishing A332s will have two toilets in J.

As far as I'm aware, the A330-200s (other than EBG/EBL) currently can't operate the longer flights to Asia (i.e. PEK, KIX etc.) due to not having a crew rest. I assume QF are now planning to get around this by reserving one J seat on each flight as a crew rest seat if they're selling 27/28 J seats.

The refurb A332’s only have 1 toilet in J?

I was on EBL last night and had forgotten how uncomfortable I found the Y seats. It really is night and day between the refurbished and unrefurbished planes.

Upguage of 333 on AKL and SIN routes suggests where the demand is. Those EK wides really soaked up a lot of tourist capacity down the back that's for sure!

Yep! Most of my EK trans-tasman flights have been 100% full in Y. (Even if I can't say the same for J & F...)

Yup J and F were usually fairly sparse on most of the flights I've taken (in J or F :D ) but Y was always packed to the brim with kiwis or aussies going to/from the shaky isles.. they did offer rock bottom fares to fill those beasts though but still it's a huge drop in capacity

On my last MEL-AKL run there was also a very large group (100+ people) of Korean tourists. They occupied the entire rear section of the A380 and then some.

Was told by the CSM the new refurbed ones will have two toilets. Maybe learned from their mistake to put only one previously...

I assume that means EBG and EBL are finally getting refurbished? I had heard that QF was planning to return them to the lessor but that may have changed.

EBG & EBL are getting refurbished later this year when they are due for their heavy checks. Qantas extended the leases on these two aircraft's.

Oh dear, awful news. How to avoid any of the QF A330's without paying the new A380 surcharge?

Unless you are in J - complete A330 fleet with the lie-flat product.

In Y different story with a number of different products.

Does Qantas still have any A330s flying to/from Asia with no seat-back IFE entertainment in Y?

They do appear from time to time. EBD has been to CGK and SIN within the last month. EBK has been off to SIN.

They generally stay domestically or head to AKL.

Half the 332s are ipad only, but QF tries to keep them off the Asian routes

Yes economy. A330 and 787 the way forward for Qantas. Oh dear. Miss the 747 and A380.
