Press Release: QANTAS AND UBER TO MAKE AIRPORT TRIPS MORE REWARDING

Book Uber | Qantas

Just have to use their app to book it.

Interesting - I wonder how much data sharing they are doing between each other. Also doesn't appear to have to be flying QF to earn.

This is useful, In addition, members who sign up to Uber for the first time and book a ride via the Qantas app will earn 2,000 bonus Qantas Points on their first Uber trip anywhere in Australia.

I have been caught out travelling to SYD at busy periods with Uber's not being allowed to use the bus lanes. The additional stress was not worth the cash savings
Uber pick up at SYD can also be a bit of a madhouse

I wonder if MEL will now allow Uber x pickup in addition to Uber black?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You'd think uber would be hoping QF will make space for pick up and drop off. QF has given uber legitimacy to be at airports.

They have for awhile now, we’ve taken Uber x a couple times now. They have an Uber x queue about 5min away and pickup is outside the hotel across the road from the terminal.

I didn’t realise. It had been some time since I was last there.

UBER has always had legitimacy to be at an airport, regardless of what airport management have thought. I see no difference to my daughter dropping me off at the airport (uni student and I pay her to do so) and an Uber driver doing the same thing. A dropoff or pickup is a exactly that. It matters not who does it and what external arrangement is had regarding it. Airports obviously saw cash in it for them and hence their early obstinacy regarding it, until they worked out how they could get that cash into their pockets.

I see this as a good thing. 3 points/$ and at BNE, OOL and CNS, way to go bro!

Hasn't been a long time, several months now though. There are 3 'ride-sharing' lanes outside the ParkRoyal, so you just message the uber driver the lane number you're waiting at. Easy-peasy.

It's a real boon for families as there are commonly Uber XLs waiting in the queue. Sick and tired of taxis not being able to fit our family of (only) 4 plus 4 * luggage. And also sick and tired of the taxi rank managers at airports putting single passengers into the van taxis whilst larger groups are clearly waiting near the top of the queue. Grrr!

uber as a business and the law is a grey area in many places look at Transport for London not renewing ubers licence to operate, the taxi and hire car industry argues uber doesn't have legitimacy at all.

Look at the problems at Adelaide airport as well I'm not sure how the airport makes money out of that, if only the world was black and white.

So I followed the instructions. Linked my uber account to my QFF account. Looked in the Qantas app under ‘book’ and there’s no uber option.

Went to the App Store to make sure I have the latest version of the Qantas app and I have it.

Anyone else have this problem?

I think the app will be updated on 3 November.

Apparently the option will appear this Friday. :)

I updated the Qantas app today and the Uber icon now appears. Clicking the icon takes you to link the accounts and now it appears to be active.
