I'm arriving in SIN at 16.00 on QF81 and continuing to SGN on Jetstar Asia (3K 551) at 19.50. Will I be able to check in my luggage in SYD all the way to SGN or will I have to pick it up in SIN, clear Immigration and Customs and check in again for my flight to SGN? Will Jetstar Asia honour my QF baggage allowance? Thank you for your kind assistance.

Last time I tried PER-SIN-BKK the check-in people at PER said no to both luggage and boarding pass.
At least you have the time to go downstairs and recheck in.

YMMV - perhaps SYD is more civilized.

Happy wandering

This happened to me too, the tip is to go to JQ transfer desk in SIN and they will forward the luggage on.

It's always best to bank on not being able to check it through. Then if you can - it's just a bonus. Some things help:

1. Being able to use First check-in (obviously you're a WP so you can, so this is a plus)
2. Being genuinely pleasant to staff
3. Telling them that you have done this before and that your luggage has made it through and that, therefore, you're happy to deal with it if it doesn't work.

Of course if you're not happy to deal with it if it doesn't work, then don't request it to be checked-through. Instead, hope that the transfer desk are happy to arrange your baggage for you. It's always best to bank on not being able to have then arrange it for you. Then if you can - it's just a bonus. Some things help:

1. Having enough time for them to sort it out (you do, so this is a plus)
2. Being genuinely pleasant to staff
3. Telling them that you have done this before and that your luggage has made it through and that, therefore, you're happy to deal with it if it doesn't work.

Fingers crossed for you! :)

You shouldn't have an issue with checking your bags through from Sydney.

I've re-checked the document I based my post on and I was confused. Baggage interlining would have been possible if you were connecting to BKK or HKG (or SIN, but not applicable in this case).

Again, though, it doesn't hurt to try.

Thanks fellows! Your kind comments will help me not to put my hopes too high. As someone said earlier, it is better not to expect too much and be hopefully nicely surprised.
