Have an American Express credit card with CBA, NAB or Westpac? Chances are you'll start earning fewer points per dollar spent from July under a barrage of changes announced by the banks this week - so why not keep your points flowing in with a new Qantas American Express Ultimate Card?

This card offers a solid 1.5 Qantas Points per dollar spent on most purchases and 2.5 Qantas Points per dollar spent direct with Qantas, such as when paying for flights or Qantas Club membership.

Unlike some other AMEX cards, this one also delivers 1.5 Qantas Points per dollar spent with insurers and utilities (like telcos, electric companies, internet service providers and streaming services), with 1 Qantas Points earned per $2 spent on government payments such as to the ATO.

Best of all, all points are uncapped!

Now to the best part - the sign-on bonus! Apply via this link and you'll earn 65,000 bonus Qantas Points after spending at least $1,500 on the card within the first 3 months. Apply the 'normal' way and you'll earn a lower 55,000 Qantas Points instead.

(I receive 10,000 bonus Qantas Points for every successful applicant, while you also receive 10,000 more points by using these links - so much like an Uber referral, it's a win-win.)

The card comes with a $450 annual fee but also includes a free domestic return flight with Qantas every year, two free yearly visits to the AMEX Lounge at Sydney airport, domestic and international travel insurance: so if you like to travel and often find yourself away from home (and would have paid for a return flight at some point during the year), chances are you'll get far more value back from the card than you'll pay in annual fees. :)

A minimum income requirement of $65,000/year applies, but this is household income, not personal income - so if you live with a partner/wife/husband, you can enter your total combined income during the application process for consideration, and as long as you earn $65,000/year between you (even if that's $32,500 each), you'll meet the minimum easily.

So, what are you waiting for?

You can apply here today!

(When clicking the link, you'll first see the blue Qantas Discovery card, but you can access this great offer simply by clicking on the dark-coloured Qantas Ultimate card either at the top right or the bottom left of the screen.)

I hope you've found my summary useful, and hope you can keep your points flowing by applying for this card via my referral link. Am currently saving my points for a holiday with my partner, so any bonus points earned are most gratefully received. :)

Re: Qantas American Express Ultimate Card: 65,000 bonus Qantas Points (new as of 2/5/

Thanks Chrisflyer for starting the new thread. This offering is slightly tweaked on the previous ones, but still offers good value, particularly considering the free flight. The current offer does not have an expiry date at time of writing, but be sure to check the american express page to confirm before you apply.

One-off bonuses:

  • 65,000 bonus points if you spend $1,500 in the first 3 months
  • 0% on balance transfers for the first 12 months - with a 1% establishment fee

And then, in your first year, and every year, you get

  • A complimentary return flight on Qantas, after your first QF Air Australia spend (PM me for an easy & cheap way to do this),
  • Two Entries to the Amex Lounge at SYD Intl Airport
  • 1.5 Points per $1 on most spend, plus a bonus point on QF spend
  • Decent travel and purchase insurance.
  • To use Apple pay, Samsung Pay and Android Pay
  • Up to 44 interest free days on purchases

This product has an annual fee of $450, which can be easily justified by the value of the included flight (which in my experience does earn qantas points and status credits).

The minimum credit limit for this product is $3,000 and it has a $65,000 minimum household income requirement . Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for this offer. Bank-issued: (Australia New Zealand Banking Group Limited, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, National Australia Bank, Westpac Banking Corporation) previous and existing American Express Cardholders are eligible for this offer.

If you're keen to jump on board, by clicking this referral link you'll receive all of the above and as a cardholder myself I'd gain 30k points towards the next holiday for Mrs Excel & I. Thank you for your consideration!

NB: As always these offers are subject to change and this advice is general in nature, you should consider if the product is right for you and/or seek independent financial advice as appropriate :)

Re: Qantas American Express Ultimate Card: 65,000 bonus Qantas Points (new as of 2/5/

Hi member viewers
Here is my Amex referral link with the details as below: http://amex.com.au/refer/annacIh5L

a) You get a 55,000 Qantas points as sign-up bonus after you spend $1500
b) 1.5 points per dollar spent on purchases
c) 2 person access to the Amex lounge Sydney International Terminal every 12 months
d) One free return domestic Qantas flight between most capital cities
c) Travel insurance etc.

For being so kind I get a 30,000 Qantas point as a referral bonus which Mrs Lime and I will use sensibly! :). Considering the massive clawback by the Banks AMEX and other card points earning capacity, this is an excellent card to increase your points rapidly.

so here it is again in case you forgot! http://amex.com.au/refer/annacIh5L

Re: Qantas American Express Ultimate Card: 65,000 bonus Qantas Points (new as of 2/5/

Thanks to whoever took up the referral recently 30K coming our way soon, any others muchly appreciated :)

Hi Limewood,
I used your referral and got the card and points. Did you get your points or are they the points you have been waiting for in the other posts with the newer offer? My card was approved in late July. I did post my referral link on the new offer but so far no takers for me. However one can't complain as the card is a good deal on its own!

Thank you. Yes my good woman received 3 referrals
I have my own Amex now, didn't think they would give me a card i'm an old codger at 75 but they did and I've had 2 in past month, no points showing yet for my card referrals.

If you collect Qantas points and prefer to fly Qantas, this are the cards for you.

American Express is now offering Qantas Ultimate Amex with 65000 points with free Qantas domestic flights thrown in.

Essentially, it is 65000 Qantas points + free domestic Qantas flight for $450 annual fee.

Now it is not as good as the 100000 Qantas points offer earlier, but with the equation above, and general offer is now dropped to 50000 Qantas points, you are still a winner by applying via referral!

The bonus Qantas points and flights will come as long as you meet the following spending criteria:

- 65,000 Qantas Points after you spend $1,500 on purchases with your new Card within 3 months of the Card approval date.

- Free domestic return Qantas flight (or $450 Qantas Credit after 31 October 2017) after your first Card spend on selected Qantas products and services. The easiest way to qualify for such flights/credits is spend just more than $1 on Qantas Future Planet, which I have already documented here in AFF:

Qantas Future Planet - Great way to activate eligible QF Spending on Credit Cards

So the best way to apply is to APPLY HERE.

NOTE: As referrer I will get 20000 points for your successful application, but I think with all the benefits here, it is a Win Win between you, me and American Express!

Amongst other things, you also get the following:

- complimentary access up to two entries per calendar year to the American Express Lounge at Sydney International (Kingsford Smith) Airport T1.

- Complimentary domestic and overseas travel insurance.

- For free flights, you can book the flight in the name of another person;

- 0% p.a. on balance transfers for the first 12 months — A one-off credit plan establishment fee of 1% applies to any balances transferred (NOTE: Spend the $1500 on purchases first as well as 1 Qantas services to get the bonus points/free flights credits first, pay it all off, BEFORE doing this).

You can APPLY HERE.

Adding my referral link. Thanks in advance to anyone who uses it.

http://amex.com.au/refer/simons1L6n

YOU get: 65,000 Qantas Points if you apply, are approved for a Qantas American Express Ultimate Card and spend $1,500 in your first 3 months of Card Membership.

I get: 30,000 Qantas Points for each friend approved for a Card using my link.

Now retired need all the QFF points we two can get to travel more in out twilight years. You receive after approval and the $1500 spend 65K QFF points and I receive 30K QFF points.

so a referral to: http://amex.com.au/refer/keithcx8rT is muchly appreciated.
Please let me know if you do...

I'm assuming that the 18 month exclusion period applies to this card?

Yes its 18 months, Amex knew I had a previous Plat card, I cancelled it Dec. 2015.

So say the T&Cs. But if you're about to sit out 18 months, is there any harm in trying?
Definitely some harm. Wouldn't appreciate an unnecessary hit to credit rating. I think with the number of cards I churn I'm always skating close to a rejection.

As others have said above, great QFF earning card. The upcoming travel credit will also offset the annual $450 fee.

You'll get 65,000 points and I'll get an additional 30,000 points to help mrs rock and I plan a very special wedding anniversary!!
