Qantas A380-how do you know if emergency exit seats are available?

Travelling on Qantas A380 Melb-LA in Sept and I rang Qantas to check on availability of emergency exit seating.
They told me that these seats are all "blocked out" a year in advance and only after you make a booking can they tell you if the emergency exit seats are available.
How do you know if they are available prior to booking your seat. I have a couple of different days I can go but would rather know prior to booking that the emergency exits will be available.

Maybe something like www.expertflyer.com will help, if not just going to have to take a chance and book.
Keep in mind the earlier the booking the more likely you will be able to get the seat you want.

If you provide all of the dates that you are interested in, I'll be happy to check them all for you! I'm assuming that you're looking at QF93 if heading from MEL? Also, feel free to provide details of your potential return dates (QF94?) and I'll check those also.

If I can't find any EROW availability on QF93/94 on the dates you supply I'll also check the SYD-LAX/LAX-SYD A380 flights if that interests you

do you think they will bring the prices down on those dates as end Aug and start of Oct is much much cheaper:-(

As to your pricing question, chances are that the price will stay the same if not increase, due to the Victorian school holidays being between September 22 and October 7, unless by chance a sale occurs closer to departure. Also, the 12/10 flight looks slightly more full in Y than the other 3 flights, which is odd considering the increased availability of EROW and other legroom seats.

I haven't flown with Air NZ since 2005, so I'll have to defer to another to answer that question.

EDIT: Just want to point out that the width from one end of the couch to the other is only 155cms, so if you're tall, you won't be able to lie flat (only by leaning your back against the fuselage wall, so there's not much point getting the couch IMHO)

I have flown with AirNZ a lot but trans-pacific only PE or Business.

Maybe exit rows on the US flights are more popular but I find that exit rows are still available for purchase closer to flight time on the few flights I have taken recently.

Haven't needed exit row until now but that is about to change and best I can do on A380 is 51C or 52C. At least the 747 offered a few extra bulkheads that were not bassinet.
