Hi all!

Found some excellent information from the helpful people here and was wondering if you could all assist me with another question?

I'm in the middle of booking a trip to LA from 1st Dec to 17th Jan and I've noticed the prices for A380 Econ and VAUS PE are pretty much exactly the same ($2500AUD).

I've read many reviews of the premium economy in VAUST but nothing comparing it to A380 Econ?

Anyone able to shed some light?

Cheers! This is my first long haul flight if that helps at all. :)

If it was me I would be going for the B777 to avoid any possible disruptions to your flight, there is a reasonable chance your flight with QF will morph into a B747 which will be a lot older than the B777 from VA, if VA is PE for the same price then to me its a no brainer!

Hi cazzy160344, welcome to AFF! :)

Hands down, pick VA's Premium Economy product over QF's Economy product. I understand that VA's Premium Economy isn't quite as good as QF's Premium Economy (based on other trip reports I've read -- I'm still yet to fly with VA), but it's easily better than any Economy product out there.

Thanks guys, I was already learning towards VA PE I was just checking here to make sure there wasn't some other reason I hadn't considered that was in favour of Q A380.

Would be happy to hear other people's opinions as well, the more the merrier. :D

Haven't flown VAustralia yet but just had a look at the website and doesn't look half bad. For the same price I would definitely give them a try;

V australia

Provided V Aus don't back the plane into something, like a brick wall.

You mean their ground handling agents dont ! I suspect QF and VA as currently in the same boat shoudl something go wrong and spare capacity.

Having flown VA Y+ I would certainly recommend it over QF Y. My main criticism of VA was the hardness of the seat base- take yourself a spare blanket to sit on:)

With VA if something goes wrong expect to be stuck for a while, with QF, you aren’t likely to get the A380, but you’ll still fly ;)

However in this case, a better cabin (all things equal) for the same price as QF Y is a no brainer. Add to this, I notice you don’t have any program membership statuses listed, but if you happen to have at least QF Gold, you could get a status match to DJ Gold before your first flight and with that might have an increased chance of an upgrade. If not, no worries, still a better deal!

+1

But if the choice is QF Y or VA Y+ (at around the same price) it's a no-brainer!

If you're QF Platinum (with the upcoming lose of Anytime Access) or even QF Gold, do yourself a favour and get a Velocity status match to DJ Gold for - lounge access, business priority tagged bags & express immigration - to help you enjoy the trip even more.

And soak up the fantastic VA P.E. service with a smile!
