The Qantas lounge at Bangkok is reputedly closing. Where do Jetstar max or Qantas status flyers on J* go now as J* is not a OW member?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

My guess is : Sky Lounge (Air France) - If you review Lounges | Jetstar , this is where they currently send Economy (starter Max) passengers.

JQ already use another lounge at BKK for their Starter Max pax. That's the Sky Lounge (Air France) Concourse F, 3rd Floor.

So, one would imagine, they will now send their Business Max pax there.

Qantas status pax and QP members are probably out of luck.

Confusingly, they recommend different lounges between Economy MAX passengers and Business MAX passengers (Business MAX includes 3k>JQi such as BKK>SIN>MEL as well as direct).

For Economy MAX only, its the Sky Lounge

For Business MAX its Bangkok CIP Business Lounge

But for QF status passengers NOT on a MAX bundle...seems as one poster said...go to the gate!

Had a short period of concern last night when researching flights for next years DONE4 in September.Looked at the QF website and put in BKK-SYD-BNE and for the BKK leg it would only come up with the QF codeshare on EK.But if you just put BKK-SYD it comes up with QF24 as well.

I recently returned from KUL on an Emirates/QF codeshare and enjoyed it. Excellent lounge as usual.

Seeing as JQ just added all their international destinations to oneworld's global explorer - I suspect it's only a matter of time until they join the alliance.

That's interesting, may be useful to get some flex in Oneworld 140/280/420(cough) awards if it happens.

What are others thoughts?

I came out of BKK on 12/12 via 3K which only had economy, no Bus. The trip was booked as Business max so I was booked in economy max. I enquired about a lounge access and was met with quizzed looks and told no lounge. Didn't know what the Qantas card meant. On the BKK SIN leg there as not even a drink voucher included. CHEAP and NASTY Jetstar. Lost me.
The 787 J seat is narrow and has limited recline so as soon as you relax a little you slide forward. Even Vietnam J beats this hands down.

I have just had the same experience as you ausfox. At checkin today in bkk....no lounge access. The 3 checkin staff said no lounge access ....not on your bp for bkk only sin.

So I turned up in the VIP lounge....no access

I turned up in the CIP near gate G2...after some discussion I was allowed entry. But I think it was because of my qf status as lounge lady said can't enter normally before 2pm(it was 140pm)....pretty useless as my 3k flight leaves at 240pm!

Sent a carefully worded mail to Jetstar. As much as most people blast them....I've never had a problem with them before that they haven't solved to my satisfaction. Tbh this time I don't expect a good result. I doubt qantas would gibe a toss either.

So if you want to travel 3k to/from bkk....prepare for a "discussion" about lounge access

According to OneWorld, Jetstar Australia's network was already part of it, they just added their Jetstar Asia network. I'm not sure this really means you'll see them joining an alliance anytime soon any more than we'll see Virgin join a network anytime soon.

What trip??
You booked a ticket on jetstar.com -- which sold you an Economy Max ticket on 3K (BKK-SIN presumbaly) and a Business Max ticket on JQ (SIN-???) -- these are separate airlines - separate AOCs, separate ownership
3K doesn't have a widebody aircraft so doesn't offer any Lounge access..

Now where Qantas Group operates lounges, they will provide access to status members travelling on the Jetstars, but that is diferent, and no longer available in BKK.

IF you had flown on the JQ 787 BKK-MEL, then you would get lounge access.

Pretty certain he booked it as one ticket...ie Business Max BKK>SIN>MEL ..... same as I did. If you consult post #6 (lower image is the one ticket booking), it clearly states lounge access on both sectors.

And agree on the direct flight lounge access, is a given....however on both of my incoming and outgoing flights, Jetstar did not fly directly on those days.

And your assertion as 3k does not have widebody aircraft (which is currently true of course) and therefore doesnt provide lounge access in BKK is incorrect. Please see booking BKK>SIN in Economy MAX, where it states lounge access (post #6 top image)

I booked Business Max MEL- BKK on the Jetstar website. At the time Qantas had a lounge at BKK so in my naive way expected the J Max fair would get me to and from with lounge access without needing to use my QFF status. Not so, by the time I flew Qantas had closed their lounge.'The exercise was to try the 787. I attempted to fly the 787 on VN but only had a tired 777 HAN LHR return so this disappointment only added salt to the wound. I may never fly in comfort on a 787. Just have to try elsewhere.

Someone travelling Starter Max on 3K should have access to the Sky Lounge (Air France) in Bangkok.

Hmm OK. Albeit doubt anyone would ever buy an Economy Max ticket standalone... Very surprising for the connection then

Sorry moa999, I missed the condition when booking, that when you do not have a wide bodied aircraft ergo you do not have lounge access. Where is this stated?
As a peasant self funded flyer I miss some of these subtleties.

I got a reply to my email complaint to JQ. It was better than I thought, but really didn't thoroughly answer the issue.

"Dear banger2 ,
Thank you for contacting us Jetstar. I’m sorry to hear that you were unable to access the Qantas Club lounge as you were expecting before your recent flight to Melbourne
Jetstar Passengers travelling on a Business Max fare type will be able to access Qantas Club lounges at Melbourne, Sydney, Cairns, Gold Coast, Bangkok, Honolulu, Auckland and Singapore as well as Pacific Lounge in Osaka, JAS Lounge in Bali, BGS Premier Lounge in Beijing and Lux Lounge in coughet.
A full list including the specific locations of these lounges is available on the Lounges page of our website.
I can advise that you were booked on Business Max Fare and I understand that you spoke to a member of our staff and I’m sorry if you weren’t given an access to Qantas Club Lounge. I can understand that this must have been very disappointing on the day.
Please be assured that your feedback will also be passed on to our senior management team in my reporting."

There is an error there stating Qantas Club lounge and Bangkok, which of course is no longer. The best the email did was confirm as my fare was booked as Business MAX I was entitled to use the CIP Business lounge which is outside gate G2. This was ultimately the lounge I accessed but it took some discussion to gain access, which should not have happened. The link in the email to the lounge access is correct however.

Interestingly I didn't know I had lounge access in HKT on a Business MAX fare...doh! Well now I do at least :)

I did get a $100 Jetstar voucher, which I thought was a nice gesture of goodwill.

I think the biggest issue is simply on the single ticket MEL>SIN>BKK return booking, "LNGE" is not printed on the SIN>BKK or BKK>SIN boarding pass. "LNGE" is printed on the MEL>SIN and SIN>MEL BP. Of course as a GOLD or higher this is not an issue in SIN...but in BKK without a QF lounge I'm sure it will continue to be an issue for this routing if "LNGE" is not printed on the BP.
I consulted a previous single sector booking BKK>SIN as a Starter MAX, and "LNGE" was printed.

Hopefully the feedback will make a change to this issue...but I'm not so confident it will change.
