We will be on CX101 HKG to SYD - it is B777. I have selected seats 12A & 15A for us (prefer windows for both, instead of middle pairs). I understand that CX101 is B777 with 3 class config, seatguru shows 12A & 15A - J class - in the same cabin. However, CX also uses B777 with 4 class config (for example, HKG-LHR), seatguru shows 12A & 15A - J class - are not in the same cabin, but separate by toilets and serving area (both shown to be bad seats by seatguru). I just don't want to make a mistake, can someone please confirm that 12A & 15A on CX101 are in the same cabin, with no toilets and serving area? Thanks!

I don't think CX offers First class HKG-SYD. What date are you travelling?

Yes, I know CX does not offer F on the hkg-syd route. We will be in J. However I just want to make sure that the seats I have selected are right, because they are quite different depending on how the B777 was configured. I think I read that there are 2 different configs 77G (3 classes) and 77H (4 classes).

The most likely sub on CX 101 if it showing as a 777 is for an A330, but as skip says if you provide a date we could check (eg on Expert Flyer).

Thanks, OATEK. I misunderstood PineappleSkip's question. The date is 30th May 2016.

EF currently shows that flight as a 3 class 777 so you are ok at the moment.

If you change to 15A and 16A then you will be ok no matter which aircraft they put on

Thanks, pjm99au, for checking EF. The only window seats available were 12A & 15A - otherwise they are in middle pairs!

Yes, there is a difference between A330G, that leaves out row 13, and 777 that leaves out rows 13&14.

The seat map shows more empty window seats though this might vary by status, I don't know. The current RF seat map shows this:

Thanks, OATEK. I will check again tonight (London time). When we booked the map did not show 16A available. We are both oneworld emerald. Will let you know after I check.

Thanks, everyone, for replying to my question!

Thanks to OATEK for the seat map. I have now changed us to 15A & 16A - they were not available when we booked a few months ago. It looks like the J cabin is quite empty - maybe because of the late overnight flight?

highly unlikely the 4 class bird would appear on SYD-HKG, these are fully utilised on European and North American routes
