I have had it happen twice now. I go to swipe my Velocity at BP and when I swipe it the Pay Pass sensor picks up the Visa chip in my Global Wallet and it ended up taking the money to pay out of my Global Wallet Visa account and not giving me any Velocity points. The first time it happened it left both myself and the attendant baffled. The second time it happened the attendant was awake to what had happened and cancelled the transaction and repeated it except she swiped the Velocity card upwards.
Has anyone else have this happen ? Is there any other ways to prevent it from happening ?

I've never experienced this, but I don't have any money on my VFF card.

If this keeps happening, I can only think of two options:
  1. Request a non-chipped VFF card (Not ideal if you use the Global Wallet)
  2. Get a temporary BP card (you'll need to get a new one every 3 months)

Note that any old Velocity card will work regardless of expiry date, so If you don't have one without an EFTPOS you could get rid of the Global wallet and get a new card. Then if you still want Global wallet, do the reverse. Keep both cards and use as appropriate.

You can go into your VGW account, ((not your VFF account)), and temporarily block the card, ie, probably invalidate it till you take off the block.
Its the first one, not sure if you will still earn VFF points by swiping the card at BP.
You could always try that.
My slide of VFF card down the right hand side, and then tap and go has never gone awry.
O/T: Once when I once used my QCC card at OTR in SA, didn't know any better, after the use, that QCC died on me, but the VGW has always been good to me.
Slide and tap has always given me the bonus points, and the 0.33points per Aud$1 Aust domestic spend at OTR.

Just to make sure I get your drift, is it that you want to earn VFF points, but don't want to use VGW to pay, but want to pay for the fuel or other things, with cash or another card?
Or is it that have earnt no points, by swiping the card down the side of the EFTPOS reader.
Swiping the VGW card down the reader usually on the right hand side of EFTPOS machine, in my case does not pay for the transaction, I still have to either tap and go, or slide the card into the bottom of the reader to pay, and thus earn the points.
Sliding the VGW card down the side of the EFTPOS reader, in my case, with the tap/insert, will then give me my base and bonus VFF points.

Maybe wait for OP to try it (my suggestion) out again at that particular BP store.
Turn off VGW in card management in the VGW website, and then at that particular BP store, slide card down right hand side, or slide card up, and then pay with cash/another card and see if it works, ie, the bonus points appear, but the base points don't as he/she has used cash/another card to pay for the purchases.

This happened to me twice at the same service station and the second time I also had the attendant show me that swiping up stops the interference. I now do it every time and have never had the issue since.

Haven't had this problem, but I always make sure the card goes nowhere near the screen when I do the swipe.

The store attendant has always swiped my card so maybe they are aware and make sure that doesn't happen.
