I have a Priority Privilege membership with the Intercontinental Hotel Group - joined last year.

I have used the benefits - in giving the (transferable) 2-for-1 certificate to relatives to use over the Christmas - New Year period (and they enjoyed staying at the Intercontinental Hotel); and taking friends and relatives to the Cafe Opera at the Intercontinental Hotel for buffet lunches.

I have found the buffet lunches at the Cafe Opera were OK - not as nice as I would have expected.

Has anyone used the dining benefits at the other hotels in Sydney (Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn)? Would like hear comments / views in order to compare if they were worth trying something different next time, as I get a bit tired of eating at the Cafe Opera - about 7 times in the last 3 months!

my wife and i find the crowne plaza at coogee (food wise) is nicer than cafe opera

The HI at the Rocks is good for dinner (not that busy - seems to be a mainly breakfast venue), the HI at Darling Harbour is also good for dinner.

HI at the airport is not bad. Best meal I have had is actually the HI Adelaide, with HI Flinders in Melbourne a very close second.

Thank you, Ioki and markis10, for the replies. Hubby said the food at the Cafe Opera at IH circular quay was very ordinary, and the dining room needed upgraded and refurbished - very old and dull. We will check out the Crowne Plaza in Coogee and the HI in the Rocks and Darling Harbour. I have some guests coming to Sydney - so I will take them to one of these (not the IH).

CP Darling Harbour do a good steak. Restaurant is called 'Salt' and is on the 1st or 2nd floor.

We stayed at the CP Coogee Beach 2 weeks ago and can recommend Bluesalt Restuarant - the barramundi and asparagus were excellent. Unfortunately Oceans Bar downstairs does not accept the PP card for meals. Breakfast at Bluesalt was also really good and included fresh mango with the fruit selection. The barista at breakfast time makes a great coffee. :D

The HI at the Rocks no longer serves dinner. I phoned to book and was told there was not enough business to keep it open in the evening.

After staying at the CP we moved to the IC Sydney for 2 nights and I phoned at around midday to book a table for 3 at Cafe Opera only to be told it was booked out due to Valentines Day. (What a shame they didn't advise us when we checked in the day before). We just ordered an extra tasting plate in the Club Lounge instead!

I also really enjoy the menu at HI Potts Point and the waitstaff are really attentive and friendly. The chef at breakfast makes a mean omelet with lots of gourmet suggestions.
