IainF and I were talking about this offer when we got the email this afternoon. Pretty good deal to ensure Plat requalification.

Also the points break 5000 points nights then would cost $50 if you were out of points so also not a bad deal at all.

I decided against this good offer due to a couple of reasons.

One reason is I already have just over 20,000 PC points for the year and with the Kiwi Mainland DO in September I should get over the line in qualifying PC Platinum.

The other reason is the lack of suitable 5,000 Point break hotels in Asia Pacific. I have well over 80,000 PC points and don't see the normal 15,000-35,000 PC points required for normal award stays as good value.

Keep in mind thatpoints breaks change every month, late last year pretty much every hotel in Aus was on the list at one stage or another, including IC Perth, IC BKK and IC Wellington. It pays to have the points in the bank when this occurs as they go quick!

Although I purchased 22000 points last December, the site allowed me to purchase another 22000 points (last day of the promo I assume). You should really only be able to purchase 20000 points in any 12 month rolling period.

That re-quals me to Plat (I was over 50000 points anyway this year so far), plus gives me the bonus points on my Amex etc.

While I've got plenty of points in the bank and am earning them quite quickly with stays, I wanted some spare for a trip I'm planning where I should be able to get some value.

I'm wondering/hoping if they'll have another huge PointsBreak sale. Particularly one that covers Melbourne for the 1-3 August this year :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Last year the Point Break deals were only available for booking for a short period in the second half of the year. I scored 24 room nights on the Gold Coast, so for me it was the perfect deal for my family. I certainly could not say there was a lack of suitable Point Break deals for my situation.

I have been keeping an eye on the Point breaks list and have not noticed any updates in a while.

That sounds like a great idea.

I will settle for one of the hotels in Singapore on 16 June. I happen to be transitting SIN on what appears to be the busiest time of the year. :(

It seems like the small selection that is currnently there is all that there is for April (although they do also seem rto have availability through May)

In what is a very funny/stupid/crazy move from points.com who facilitate the point buying, amongst other things, it appears they have forgotten to renew their domain registration today. (for those who don't know what it means, they basically have forgotten to pay their lease to have a certain name like www.points.com, for those who are in IT, you'll realise exactly how stupid it is for a .Com company to lose their domain!)

So no more purchasing of points will happen for a little while.
