I was surprised when I recently departed Brisbane on QF97 that there was no longer a priority check in queue for QC members. ( I also felt the separation of check in, baggage printing and lodgement was a bit low cost carrier but that's another topic).

Is this another enhancement? It still says that it is offered on the QC membership pages but it does include the proviso where available so perhaps they are removing availability.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes, it's inconsistent with web advertised benefits and then they also have differences between their computer signs and their fixed/printed signs. All very unsatisfactory.

BAC recently rolled out new checkin kiosks at BNE Intl terminal which I understand is in front of checkin row 9 and are using QF as the guinea pigs as they will eventually be common user kiosks similar to what some overseas countries offer.

I haven't seen it for myself as I forgot to have a look when we flew to Bali a couple of weeks ago as we checked in at row one then went straight down to customs.

QF used to have a separate J checkin area for J/WP/SG plus another lane for PE/QP/PS plus one for OLCI pax. Not sure what the set up is with the new scheme.

Air NZ have their own kiosks in front of row 2 so I don't know whether the plan is for BAC to convert these to the common user variety also.

Great to know that we were part of an experiment. From my experience it didn't seem to make the process any quicker or cheaper as there was much confusion about what you had to do as a passenger and extra staff to help manage the confusion. I still had to line up in a large queue to drop off my bags and the process of dropping off didn't seem any quicker than the old way with the check in agent tagging that bags.

Even if it was marginally quicker the check in area just becomes a mess with people queueing around the kiosks and having to leave the line when they forgot to go to the kiosk first. I am immediately making comparisons to self service check out at supermarkets which is being foisted on me so that they can employ less staff whilst making me use clunky technology that often fails so that manual intervention is required.

What I particularly enjoyed was that there was no warning about this when I booked my ticket or did online checkin and seat selection the day before our flight.

Totally agree with you comments cdp88. We travelled from Brisbane to SIN yesterday. I was with my husband who is LTG, but I've slid back to PS. There was only one check-in queue which was for people travelling in J, WP and SG - no mention of PS or Qantas Club members....or anyone else! I gather everyone else had to use the self check-in? It all seemed a bit messy and cramped. While waiting in the queue an attendant was checking that everyone was either travelling in J, or were Gold or above. I hope this doesn't become the norm.

It would be great if Qantas could confirm what is happening with check in for QC members at Brisbane international or any other port where they introduce the shermozzle which is self service baggage checking.

The QC pages talk about priority check in being offered and I would expect this to be honoured given that I pay good money for the membership each year. (albeit at the discounted rate provided for AFF members)

If priority check-in is advertised (and paid for), they must provide it. I would have assumed the business class check-in line?
