I've got to drag my self over to Perth tomorrow on the 743 from Sydney. I'm pretty sure they don't.... but can anyone confirm if the old things have laptop powerpoints in Business? Thanks

They DO have power ports, as well as loop based IFE for you to enjoy, if you take a break.

I was leaning towards not as well, but I guess it's possible they updated them (given these things do go to the US occasionally). I stupidly was in a dreamtime seat on the way to CGK about a month ago but didn't think to check if they had them.

Anyone have any recent experience on the 743's?

I can't recall the last time I flew 743 if it has power in J, but according to QF's web site - the 743 do NOT have inseat power. This is also confirmed by seatguru.

I have the 747-300 IFE manual right in front of me and can clearly see the section on laptop power. Perhaps only some of the 747-300 have them - I don't know. Guess you'll find out tomorrow.

I concur that the QF 743 does have in-seat power in the J cabin. The Dreamtime seats did not originally have in-seat power when first installed in the 744 and 763 aircraft, but it was added at some point in time and the 743s definitely do have it now.

I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any - I tried to locate one as my laptop was dying. I must admit I wasn't trying too hard - any excuse not to do work!

If all else fails, an adapter from the shaver point in the Toilet, with an extension cord running to your seat?:p

I *ummm* know some one that sat in the toilet for an extended period to recharge a mobile phone :)

Just adding more voice to this - I've sat upstairs in J on the 743 numerous times on PER-SYD-PER and used the inseat power every time. It's definitely there.

Maybe EBW got it when refitted after entering back into service with QF in 04, with EBY and EBX never having a need for the refit being in service all along with QF?

The six Qantas 743's initially went into service between January '85 and November 87.

Two of them, EBX and EBY were operated (Leased?) by JAL 1992-1994 (before being returned to Qantas).

In late 2004 to mid 2005, five of the 743's were refitted with Loop IFE, seat back screens in WHY and Dreamtime in J.

We know what happened to to EBU :-|

EBT was stored in January last year.

I was referring to EBV and EBWs little trip to Garuda for a few years from 2002 onwards, EBV is in storage of course! Interstingly the 2003 Qantas annual report does mention the refurb to include business class laptop power for the 747-300's, so maybe I was going blind last week or got a seat that was a temporary replacement for the normal power equipped one that had gone US!

Well it seems that they do have them. It's down rather low on the armrest part on the opposite side to where they are on the skybeds (does that make sense... its been a long day) so maybe that's why they are missed.

I was on EBX
