Hi

Thinking of booking a trip to Asia for early 2014 - ideally award bookings for the kids and paying for the adults' flights. Is it possible to have everyone on the same PNR?
Is it something that travel agents can handle or only the Qantas call centre?

Many thanks in advance.

You can do Points and Pay through the Qantas website. Not classic points though.

You need to have the same fare type for all travellers for each segment.

Recent changes mean that you can now book a Classic Award in one direction, and a paid fare back (eg. SYD-SIN as an Award, and SIN-SYD as revenue).

You can't split up and choose which passengers are on which - in that scenario, you'd need all pax to be on an Award or paying. To do that, you do need to make two bookings, which can then be 'linked' via the call centre. Having said that, as some of the passengers are children, you'd be best to call Qantas, as you may not be able to book the children on their own booking (else the system might consider them unaccompanied minors - not too sure as I've never tried). :)

Just book them separately & ask res to link the pnrs. When the flight editing is done 24-48 hours prior to departure they can preseat you which saves you paying $25.00 pp each way for seat selection (assuming you are not FF Silver or above as there would be no charge).

All pax in a single pnr must be booked in the same class eg a Classic Award is booked in "X" class. You couldn't have kids booked in "X" class on an award then adults booked on eg a sale fare in "Q" class on the same pnr. Technically you don't have to be on the same fare but you do have to be booked in the same class so in most cases that's going to be the same fare anyway.

Depending on what city you're flying to I would still compare purchasing the fares in economy versus using points as IMHO you get better value redeeming points in J or F.

You may find the following thread useful if considering purchasing airfares.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I have just made SG so should be able to choose seats.

Did check the Expedia.br website but there are no QF flights listed for our dates -not sure why as they still come up on the other expedia sites. I've been quoted AUD$1250per adult for a return fare to SIN during the Jan school hols - is that a good price?

Yikes that sounds expensive - well I suppose anything will after Expedia.Br!

What city are you flying to & dates?

You could maybe do an award ticket x 4 from Aust to Asia then purchase a one way back ftom the QF site for that country ie not www.qantas.com.au.

Flying to SIN from SYD mid Jan then BKK to SYD end of Jan.
Yes thought that was exxy but thought maybe its the school hols.

will try your suggestion ozbeachbabe thanks!

anyone know whether expedia.br will come back up with QF flights?

Last week booked 2 PAX on classic awards on one booking then 2 PAX on another. Rang QF and had them linked. No drama at all. I could even select seats for the Classic booking PAX as per my own Status.

I've never had a problem linking bookings when one award and another paid, made the bookings via the QF web site then called up. But, only tired it domestic.

Matt
