Hi All,

I'm booking F reward seats for my partner and I on Emirates in November, heading to Europe via Dubai. I'm gunning for an A380 service because shower.... however ex Sydney the A380 flight departs at 6am and we would prefer an evening service in all honesty so we can enjoy the day, soak up the lounge etc.

On the qantas reward booking search I can actually depart SYD via MEL for the 2230 departure, which would be perfect, but as it stands the positioning flight being offered in the search would have us landing in MEL at 2220, and I would prefer to get in a couple of hours prior to that. Obviously I'm being a bit fussy, but that is what we enthusiasts are like right!?

Other options to get there earlier include going via BNE or LCN..... or even just paying for a flight earlier that day. But my question is- is there a way to force the booking tool to put you on an earlier domestic flight or is this something the call centre could/would over ride for me? Thanks!

Yes, tell them you aren't presented with any earlier options, and as you're unable to book online you would like them to waive the phone booking fee.

Edit: assuming there is U availability on earlier flights, which there should be this far out.

Give the Multi-City function a try.
That might show some earlier flights.

It certainly does, but then it adds the cost of redeeming the domestic leg to the booking!
Are you sure? I recently did a QF to AA multi city and it priced up as a single 'Trip'.

'Trips" can be broken with some carrier changes (e.g. QF->CX) but I had thought EK was the same status as AA.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Ahh yes you are of course correct, I hadn't bothered to click through to the final total page! Great tip, thanks!
