The new promo info is pasted below. Currently I need 4600 points to reach Platinum, my gold status is valid until 30 November 16. I have three questions. Do you think it is worth booking 3 stays to reach the target? If I reach Platinum when would my Status be valid until, I am a bit confused given the changes that are happening to the program? We don't really stay in hotels regularly, my Gold status was reached with a multi room booking with bonus points. Thanks in advance, Fiona

Just answered one of my own questions - my account says FROM TODAY, ANY STATUS LEVEL ACQUIRED DURING 2016 SHALL BE VALID UNTIL 31 DECEMBER 2017.

I have answered my own questions :) . I have a stay at Sofitel Melbourne this week that will add 885 points leaving only 3720 points required for platinum. If I book 2 stays, there is a 3000 point bonus plus the normal points accrual. This will take me to Platinum status and in this scenario I think it is definitely worth chasing the status.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I think the 6,000 bonus points are a great deal if you can stay in cheap hotel. Looking to book 6 nights in Chiang Mai @ ~AUD50/night.

If you are going to need 3 stays (x2 days each) then it's a no-brainer for sure. Not sure I'd make up stays just for it though.

Agreed. Will be in Chiang Mai in July/August. Not good to change hotel twice in a week but the reward is worth it.

Dont forget the 'places by accor' app.

in under 12 months i have ended up with over 5000 points, downloading and logging the stays has been worth it from my end.

Great tip thanks, I have just downloaded and see that I can log stays from the last 6 months. :)

Indeed. I've just downloaded too and tried registering my last 5 stays. Hopefully something will come through. Am not far off platinum but the sooner the better!

I let my Platinum slide as I was fed up with the customer service from Accor. More specifically A+ (Advantage Plus), they have much to learn about customer service.

Despite my low opinion of Accor, if your so close to achieving Platinum I would definitely go for it based on the fact that getting in now will get you the best part of two years at that level, but also because the change in the way status is being achieved is going to make it much much harder to achieve in the future.

If award stays earnt points I might even have had a few stays myself. I have about 80,000 points to spend. Probably will end up as airline points.

Good luck with that (seriously, not sarcastic).

I logged 3 months of stays (about 10 individual stays) when I first downloaded the Places app. Waited months and then Accor denied all of the stays. Took several follow ups to get about half of them to credit and eventually gave up on the app. A real hassle for a few hundred points, not worth it.

have found the app to be temperamental at best but ive stuck at entering my stays and have seen 80-90% of them approved.

at the end of the day points without paying are the sweetest of all.

Is there a link for this promo? I have already made 9 nights of bookings for July can I take advantage of this promo?

Back to the slightly OT Places app - I had 5 out of 5 past stays validated within 48 hours. Only earned one badge (50 points) but several more will flow in coming weeks. Nice little points earner. Thanks all for posting the initial offer details and the advice on the app.

I use the App regularly and so far achieved 19 badges for a total of 11,550 points.

Key is to remember to check-in DURING your stay, if you check-in retroactively it looks like stays are often not recognised correctly...

The Le club social media team are really efficient at fixing issues with the app if you have any bothers. I had a whole heap sitting there pending for months. It was coming up to the 6 months for the old stays so I was getting worried. I messaged them on Facebook and I had my stays validated and badges collected within a week of contact. If I hadn't kicked them up the rear, I would have lost those stays and points. If things are still pending after 3 weeks contact them to get the IT team to do it manually, as it is a buggy app. It's marketing genius though (we will assume it works perfectly) but I have gone with one brand over another when I have had options just to get a badge/points. I wonder if it is due for a shake up with the new changes. I only bothered with it to chase status, there is not going to be much motivation for just points. It would be great marketing if they had status points with the badges next year.
