Hi all, I couldn't find a previous discussion about this.

We were booked on a CX flight from Melbourne to Zurich. Cathay cancelled the flight due to mechanical problems and rebooked us on an Emirates flight to Frankfurt. My QantasFF number was in the reservation for the code share points.

What's everyone's suggestion on who to contact to get mileage for the Emirates sectors into my QantasFF account?

"Original Routing Credit"

Firstly, you need to ascertain if your originally booked CX flights would have earned QFF points and Status credits¹.

If so, then send an email to frequent_flyer(at)qantas.com.au, concisely explaining the circumstances of your re-booking and request "Original Routing Credit" be applied to your FF accounts.

Attach copies of your original e-tickets and scans of your boarding passes to assist with evaluation of your claim.

¹ (Depends upon the booking class letter, only the following classes earn:

Cathay Pacific Airways (CX), including Cathay Pacific Airways' affiliate Dragon Air (KA)BHKLMVDiscount Economy0.5 -
YEconomy1 -
CDIJBusiness125%
AFFirst150%
Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes.
Excluded: Points and Status Credits are not earned on joint venture flights or Codeshare Flights operated by airlines other than oneworld[SUP]®[/SUP] alliance airlines.

Yes - they always do. All part of One World.
As do all my Lufthansa points go onto United Mileage plus as part of Star Alliance.

Problem is Emirates isn't in either of these programs.

Being part of oneworld[SUP]®[/SUP] does not of itself garuantee points/SC earn.

See edit above: (http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/terms#jump25)

What would be the circumstances when it doesn't?

Thanks for the info on the FF email address. I think I'll do that but was hoping getting CX to input the points and sectors would have been easier.

The sector I want to credit on Qantas is
CX104 Mel-Hkg

The sectors I want to credit on Mileage Plus is
LX139 Hkg-Zrh
LX1250 ZRH-ARN

But Cathay cancelled CX104 and put us onto an Emirates flight from MEL to FRA then FRA to ARN on Swiss

OK - now what was the CX104 booking class? If First or Business then you should be Ok, but if economy, the 'fare bucket' needs to be one of YBHKLM or V.

reading this is like pulling teeth.....

I know this is a FF forum, but surely an element of self learning is not out of the question??

I think the short answer is that, depending on booking class, you need to ask Qantas for an original routing credit for CX104. This is exactly what my Brother had to do when moved from QF51 to an SQ flight earlier this year. You need to ask Qantas, because as far as CX are concerned you didn't fly on CX104.

And Milage Plus the same for LX139 and 1250, assuming they do that sort of thing. Not sure how that would fit with getting credit for FRA-ARN.

A big part of the issue is the OP didn't really ask the correct question. So the thread is a learning experience for them. You could always not read the thread if it hurts that much.

Although, I imagine that Qantas would want some evidence that they were in actual fact booked on CX.

It's reasonably straightforward when the fligh was a QF flight, and QF moved people. Quite another issue when there are other airlines involved.
