Platinum One: QF cabin crew and ground staff not aware of status codes

It seems with QF so pre-occupied with grounding their airline they've forgotten to brief and tell the people where it counts most about the new status codes for P1 and Chairman's P1.

The new codes that are now appearing on the on board passenger manifest for crew and in QF's Amadeus/Altea for ground staff are:

CLPO = Chairman's Lounge Platinum One and PLPO for Plat One, in addition to the other codes already in use FFCL / FFPL / FFGL / FFSL / FFBR.

I've done a few domestic flights over the last few days and crew had no idea what PLPO was against my name - was chatting with the CSM and he laughed saying he though it meant Platinum Politician. He mentioned he chatted with a lot of his colleagues and they too were clueless about what these new codes meant.

I didn't really notice any difference in service level, however the service from the crew on all flights was excellent and of a very high standard, so I can't really see what else they could've done to make a P1 feel more "special". It's good to see QF crew/staff maintaining their professionalism even in difficult times.

It's just a shame QF launches these a new status levels and doesn't bother telling frontline staff and crew.
 
It would be great to see where QF have stated any improvement in onboard treatment as part of the P1 benefits?

Did Qantas ever say that the onboard crew would make such passengers feel any more "special"?
 
I was travelling in J for these flights so the service was great anyway - I don't think crew could do anything more to make my trip better - I can't fault it.

Maybe in Y class P1s might expect something a little extra on board?

When I have flown Y on domestic as FFPL I have pretty much received a personal welcome from the CSM and crew and letting me know if there is anything else they can do - and that's always a nice touch.

Unfortunately this is very common within Airlines. Some of it is directly the airlines fault - eg not training staff, but also parts of the issue are staff that don't read notices given to them, think they "know it all" so don't double check that the in-flight spiel hasn't changed etc etc.

I didn't expect QF to get things right straight off - give them time.

Really give them time to "get thing right". One would think they would get the basics like staff training, at least for their CSM and make them aware of the P1 program and their highest earning passengers. Getting the customer service experience at in the plane would be a priority one would think.

Again there is nothing about on board service for WP1.
 
Perhaps if they used the more commonly accepted and widely used codes that we use here, the staff may recognize the status levels more consistently :p

Wow! Out of ~80 Y flights as FFPL in the last 2 years I've had a greeting maybe 3 times.

I have never, ever - not even just once received a personal greeting on a domestic flight in Y. That's on 100's of flights with ~5years of FFPL.

Had a great chat with Michael in FLounge Syd reception about this on Monday, he said their systems had been showing Chairmans One and Plat One for about a week.

I would agree crew don't know what FFPO means - proof in the pudding yesterday when CSM gave personal intro to the person next to me who was a regular Platinum, yet I didn't receive any acknowledgement at all.

Perhaps this is part of the WP1 'enhancement'...
 
I'm aware of the new Platinum one level (being one :D) but this is the first time I've seen "Chairmans One" referred to - is this a Chairmans lounge member who actually flies a lot?

I thought it was just me. ;) My only greetings have been on weekend flights where I have clearly been the only FFPL.

Of course, DJ isn't much better as I see people around me get bottles of water and offered exit rows. Yet nada for me. I guess that means I'm an invisible man, which does have benefits sometimes. ;) :D

One further data point. I consistently get an in-seat personal greeting on CX as FFPL/OWE. Never had one on QF as FFPL.
 
I thought it was just me. ;) My only greetings have been on weekend flights where I have clearly been the only FFPL.

I generally get welcomed on board by name (Mr Simongr as well rather than Hi Simon on the other carrier) but never get an in seat welcome on a DOM flight. I don't fly enough int'l QF to have a measure but it has not happened enough for me to recall them consistently doing in seat welcome.

One further data point. I consistently get an in-seat personal greeting on CX as FFPL/OWE. Never had one on QF as FFPL.

Same here - only time I have not had the in seat welcome has been when I have been asleep on take off until the drinks trolley arrives.
 
Well tomorrow is my first flight since becoming P1. I am travelling alone as Florence can't come but have noticed that since elevating to P1 I seem to be further back down the plane with less choice of seats! Will be interesting on the way to Karratha and back tomorrow.

Mind you I'm quite happy to get on the plane, be left alone with no food (as I eat in the Qantas Club) and get off safely with no incident. I really don't want to be greeted!

Just had to use the P1 service line to release an award seat next week (to go to the P1 event).

Worked a treat. Lovely professional service, everything sorted with a call.

Great start.
 
Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that crew and CSM's have been briefed on Platinum One and two new codes to be able to recognise Platinum One members on board. But as with any new program change sometimes this can take a little while to move through the business. This is mainly because crew spend a lot of their time overseas and travelling.

Bear with us, we are completely across this. And we are also aware that Platinum One is currently not appearing on boarding passes. This will be in effect from December.

Looking forward to meeting some of you at the event next week.

Never had a greeting domesticly, though everytime in the last 4 years I have flown internationaly with Qantas in Y, I always have the CSM come and say g'day and on flights in-bound to Sydney give me a priority card, not that it does much good anyway.
