To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

Yes, I've registered now. Pretty good offer IMO - also doesn't look it will expire even if you drop from from P1

Pretty happy with my VIP Service call recently. The QF material isn't very specific on what they can or won't do but it sounded like 'whatever they can' within reason to help with anything which is fine by me.

I'm even willing to forgive the fact that after a while on hold while they were looking at the bookings, I was suddenly cut off and punted to the survey. I was called back shortly afterwards which is good - my experience with call centres is generally very mediocre; you'd think with all my details there it would be a straightforward affair to call back, but this time I really felt like they were valuing and trying to look after me.

Ultimately got my bookings and upgrades sorted the way I wanted so very happy with that.

I must concur. My dealings with the new VIP Service Team recently have been excellent. Everyone with whom I have spoken has gone over and above trying to be helpful. Long may it continue this way!

This is an observation and in NO way any kind of gripe or problem for me.

I realised today it was well into December and no sign of a christmas gift as in the past for P1.

And that's totally fine. We know how the year has been for everyone, specially QF.

Now they may yet send us a card or something, maybe even another QF wine discount or similar.

Either way I'm not fussed (despite being able to have my yearly Sendle reminder :D )

Dec kind of crept up on me at least.

Keep calm and carry on :D

The book could so easily have been accompanied by a card or note which to me would have adequately served the purpose.

I'm not expecting anything else. In a year of staff layoffs and uncertainty it would not feel right (to me) to receive a bottle of champagne from the company. But agree, a card would be just fine.

@pagingjoan you beat me to it. After seeing the Sprucegoose post I checked my inbox and did not see anything. It could also just be that messages take time to hit individual accounts in what seems to be an ever changing order, to quote @RichardMEL consistently inconsistent.

Avis emailed today welcoming me into President's Club. It's showing as such on the app, but not the website strangely (which still says Preferred).

Hopefully the profile is correct as I'm about to make a booking.

Bit off topic but has anyone figured out exactly what a double upgrade is? I confess to be totally befuddled by rental car classes. I know that previously I've booked a Camry, only to be presented with a Hyundai SUV and informed that I've been "upgraded". I've extensive experience of both and I know very well which I prefer if I've a few thousand kilometers ahead of me!
Is there an agreed upon list of car types and grades that defines where each make and model sits?

That sounds like a double upgrade to me. Higher floor with a corner view. No wait, I'm confusing that with the BS hotels pull.

Here's Avis table with cars ordered by classes.
