To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

Unfortunately I also received the wallet. Not very impressive at all. Would have much preferred the Champagne.

Possible data point: I fly J rather than F.

Re data point - no. I also fly mainly in J - a sort of interational FIFO thing minus the flouro vests. Certainly not the F crowd. And I got the champas.

I would have preferred the wallet but maybe Qantas are actually super smart and knew my wife would prefer the champas?

Hi Princess Fiona, I e-mailed them shortly after I posted it on here- so far 6 hours an waiting for SST to reply! which is very very unusual for them.....normally a reply in 30mins to an hour max
I'm a 4 year P1 and haven't received any notifications of anything being delivered! Same experience as you @nige_perth, emailed the SST, on Monday, to date no response.

An update on Fastway and my P1 gift, their tracking site is still showing the parcel as being in their depot awaiting my instruction for re-delivery.

I can confirm their site is wrong, they actually delivered it yesterday…five business days after I paid for the redirection.

I too received the Taittinger. From a data point, I do buy wine from epiQure so they know we drink champers, is this a criterion for getting the booze and not the wallet?

And I’m still flabbergasted that QF are using low-rent couriers that predictably are giving their premium customers grief, just to save a dollar.

I order a fair bit from epiqure so that should not be the reason for wallet vs booze. I can't believe it is kms either. SCs possible, or total spend more reasonable.

Anyway, for once I am happy with the wallet. Have already used it twice (not on QF, yet) and will last longer than any champagne.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

But it's fun to speculate.

How can the wallet not have monetary value? It's a gift. Surely that's just as frowned upon. Bizarre.

Also what about Government employees who earn P1 status in a private capacity? That was once my situation.

In any event, Govt employees (as far as I'm aware, still) can earn SCs and accordingly benefit from lounge access etc even when not travelling on a Govt fare.

I would have thought receiving alcohol would have been more of a no no than a wallet.
The alcohol is of more value than the wallet ?
There used to be in Fed Gov a monetary value that was able to be accepted

The wallet has company branding on it (tde, and the Roo). Not sure that makes it a better Govt gift!

I forgot to ask about the P1s who didn't receive anything. I speculate as to what their reasoning is?

I have a few ideas why... Hap-hazard program being top of the list.

Last year there seemed to be quite a lag between receipt for some P1s, though that seemed to be a different product. I'd have said the same may be the case now, as it's only been about a week, but non-response from the SST to those queries is odd.

Thanks for finding out. While I'm surprised I'm still presumably classed as Govt (though some of my work is for Govt and involves CBR-SYD/MEL travel booked by a Govt dept), and at the difference in gift, I'll take the wallet and run.

Well apparently my request to CP has done zero as the latest status update is it's back at the depot for about the 5th business day running. jokers.

I only really post this now for your amusement rather than anything else specifically.

Happy Trails is showing a location of Up Country Thailand, if that is a home address then maybe QF don't send gifts offshore...or maybe they do and Sendle are still trying to deliver the 2015 gift :)

No, I still use an Aus address for QF purposes.

@bloader- I received an email this evening from SST- my platinum one gift will be with me next week..........i'm guessing Travel wallet...easy to post

I would modify that idea to "maybe next week" given the reliability of Sendle and their subcontractors :D

(yup, still in limbo here after 10 days)
