Hi,

Just wanted to confirm - the velocity website sates;

Does thing also included up to 3 guests as it does on departure or do VA restrict it to th platinum member only.

Thanks

Same guest rules. As a Gold I've taken one guest into lounge on arrival.

I flew into to Adelaide on Thursday last week and thought I would drop into the lounge for a coffee as a Platinum Frequent Flyer.
I presented my boarding pass and was told I couldn't come in, as they were "protecting the lounge for high value departing passengers"
I would have thought that platinum Frequent Flyers would be "high value" to Virgin Australia.
Crazy.

LOL

What's the difference between a high value departing and a high value arriving passenger, I would have asked...along with a few other pertinent questions...what a joke. Was it particularly busy inside?

Geez. I am hoping to guest a couple in on arrival in ADL next week so would be keen to know if the lounge was really busy.

I haven't done arrivals access very often but IIRC I scan my BP rather than risk an interaction like this.

You might suggest you'll be a high value passenger departing for Qantas if lounge access isn't granted per the program benefits! Ridiculous.

That’s really bizarre. I’ve never had trouble coming into ADL and using the lounge on arrival. I work in the airport precinct so usually my wife and son go in and have a drink whilst I walk down to work and get my car

It was 2:30pm and the lounge didn’t seem that busy.
My only thought was that maybe they were expecting a VIP group to arrive in the lounge.
I’ve never had a problem using other lounges on arrival (even with guests), so I’ll put this down to a glitch. ;)

While the ADL lounge truly is tiny, it seems like VA may not have been following their own rules?

Velocity Platinum members can access the Virgin Australia Lounge on arrival with an eligible day of travel Virgin Australia or partner airline itinerary or boarding pass.
Subject to space availability, Velocity Gold members and Lounge Members may also access the Virgin Australia Lounge on arrival with an eligible day of travel Virgin Australia or partner airline itinerary or boarding pass.

Notice that for Platinum members, it shouldn't be "subject to space availability" which only applies for Gold members.

I'm flying out of ADL on Sunday evening...I guess that makes me a guarantee to get in the lounge, but what about my guest! I wonder if we'll be told that the lounge is for high value departing platinum members only!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
