I have been travelling around the US with work in the past month and managed to put a fair few flights over to Delta. I have been pretty impressed by the way Delta staff have recognised VA status. I had no issues at all in any of the Sky Clubs I visited, and I generally found them better than Admirals Clubs.
On the boarding pass 'Platinum' and 'Sky Priority' are prominent which was great for security lines, and it seems Delta has integrated well with VA and the recognition is similar to a DM Platinum.
When I had some missed connections the ground staff noted the status and did all they could to get me to my destination - though I admit I was proactive and had a couple of solutions prepared thanks to expert flyer. I also was able to stand-by for earlier flights on two occasions without payment - though I think that might not strictly be a benefit and was probably more a favour.
I was also looked after very well when my flight in BKK went tech and the agent managed to get me put on a CX flight to LAX, otherwise I would have lost a day in Tokyo.
I'm not sure how others have fared more recently. I'd be interested to hear.
