Platinum Elite Fast Track/Comp

Received an email today to secure Platinum Elite with an exclusive opportunity.

Stay 3 more nights through to 21 December 2015 to lock in Platinum Elite for another year.

Platinum Elite status will be valid unti 31 December 2016 after which member must re-earn Elite status.

Anyone else? And also wouldn't one need to re-earn Platinum Elite before 31 December 2016? Slightly confusing.

Not really sure how much Platinum is worth. Unless you needed/wanted to stay in hotel for three days before the end of the year, you'd probably be better off buying Diners Rewards or Ambassador (or both) to get there

Good point about value.

I have 1 night booked in HKG and need 1 more night to achieve my target for Accelerate and that costs ~AUD70 in BKK. Book a 2nd night for ~AUD70 and get Platinum Elite.

Or I can spend AUD319 for Dining Rewards membership.

That sound a bargain as normally require 40 nights for Plat. I'm not going to re-qualify for Spire this year but will be Plat. Doesn't worry me in the least as benefits for Spire amount to......umm let me think......nothing

I am happy with Platinum status where I stay.

- Holiday Inn Chiang Mai almost always upgraded to Ping River suite everytime on cheap room rates.
- Holiday Inn Sukhumvit Bangkok complimentary lounge access

I have just reached Spire elite for the first time and thought I would look up some current info on the benifits - I am already wondering why I bothered. Maybe it will be useful for a HH status match?

Shouldn't have bother IMO, IHG plat would have got you HH diamond in a status match

This is really confusing.

The email mentions 3 nights where as My Offer Status mentions 1 x 3 night stay. I guess the email is wrong. Huge difference between the 2.

Throws a spanner in the works as I was planning 3 individual nights. Now to rethink my strategy.

Hhmm. I guess I will see in due course if three single nights get me there. The original email Ts and Cs refer to "stays" (not a single stay).

It's changed again! I just noticed that the Fast Track had dropped off my "Offers List". It has popped up as an extra bonus under Accelerate as a "Platinum Elite Bonus". The Ts&Cs read better (next 3 qualifying nights). But the qualifying period is gone from 31 Dec to 15 Dec!...

I booked a 3 night stay and then 2 x 1 night stays for this week. Should knock over Platinum Elite and 30,000 bonus points. Accelerate already achieved last month.

Getting close to 1,000,000 IHG rewards points.

Anyway, I just realised looking at the card yesterday that the EXP date is Dec 2018(!) not 2017.

Is that normal?

Another fast track offer to retain Platinum Elite status for another year.

As I am still 35 nights away ftom qualifying I have been given the challenge of staying another 5 nights to keep Platinum Elite.

I think that's fair.
