Hello VFF I flew on VA175 on March 21 and VA176 on March 27 - great service from very good CSM's on both flights - My question relates to the bonus points added for each of those flights -The base point value credited to my account for each flight was 2,110.
Being a Plat Velocity member I have always received the full 100% bonus point allocation on the top of the base points.
On these two flights my account has only had credited with 1,688 bonus points for each flight not the 2,110 I expected. Is this an error or have I missed something in the fine print?

Cheers

I assume you flew in Y+, giving you 1.25 points for every mile flown. 1668 Miles BNE-NAN (Going off the Velocity Milage Calculator)
1.25 * 1688 = 2110 Points per flight

VFF Calculate the Base Points on a 1 Point: 1 Mile Ratio, no matter what the actual earn rate is for the class/fare bucket you are travelling in. It worked out for me when I flew WLG-BNE on a Saver Fare, earning only 0.5 Points per Mile, but then receiving the 75% Point Bonus on the base points for the actual flight itself, calculation being = (1 * x Miles between WLG-BNE) * 0.75

That make sense? Hope I have explained it well enough - It makes sense to me. They always mention BASE points whenever VA are giving out bonus points for flights, beside the standard status bonus points we'd get too.

For international flights the website states:
Silver, Gold and Platinum members earn a Points bonus on MILES flown in addition to the base Points^ earned.

You therefore only earn 1 point per mile as Platinum (0.75 points per mile as Gold). Domestic flights do not take milage into consideration as mileage is not used to calculate points earn. This very thing tripped me up too when I flew internationally on VA for the first time.
