(Currently passing the time at LAS, using their great free WiFi, figured I'd put this question to the brains trust ).
I'm currently on an LONE4, flying LAS-LAX-AKL-SYD, and my girlfriend (no, fiancée - still getting used to that ) is on all the same flights, but her LAS-LAX is a separate paid ticket, and her LAX-AKL-SYD is on an Award Explorer.
On check-in at LAS, I was given a J boarding pass for LAX-AKL, but my girlfriend was told she'd have to pick up her LAX-AKL-SYD boarding passes at LAX.
I'd requested the itineraries to be linked months ago, but I think that only extended to matching seats. Our seats were next to each other (24J/K) when I checked online yesterday, but my boarding pass is now 4F (and lists the class as J).
Guesses on if they give her an upgrade too? Unfortunately seatcounter.com's down, so I can't check availability in J. Post your vote and we'll see who's right in a few hours.
If they don't, I'll give her my seat and slum it in Y...she rarely flies.
Cheers,
