Some pics from a recent QF7 Syd to DFW in the F cabin with J service.

I have also included a couple of bathroom pics.
Speaking of on-board bathrooms. I was lining up to use them after breakfast. The FAs noted to us that when the F cabin is redone to all J, the F bathrooms will be removed (plus a bathroom removed upstairs). They said that it would just get evern busier in that 1 to 2 hrs before landing. And that I should write to QF to express this experience and that they should consider the bathroom needs.

Anyways, was a rather generic flight.

So this will be a photo review vs a full TR in the event someone is considering the flight before it gets converted from old F to new J.

Some seat, general cabin, ajoining seat, bathroom and meal pics. Was in last row in F cabin.

The seat to my immediate right - my seat, aisle, next seat ... this was left empty as we took off. Yet the entire F & J cabins were full.
Then a few hours into the flight, the pilot came down and had a rest, meal and sleep.

Re: Photo review SYD > DWF QF7 J Service F cabin - part 3 final

Thanks for posting... Ive never had the opportunity to fly F, interesting, somewhat dated look to the cabin. Once again, thanks for sharing.

Interesting... never really seen much of their F cabins, doesn't look a great deal better than some of the better J cabins really (e.g. SIA A380 J class).

Keep in mind this F cabin is old and being replaced soon with new J as per A380.

Personally the space was nice, but I actually prefer the J seats. Call me crazy.
I like to select the F cabin (whilst I can) due to the increase in general space and seat to dunny ratio.

But yes the F cabin it rough around the edges. And the cleaning of the cabin prior was very average e.g think crumbs (and i mean lots of crumbs) in the seat pockets and jam on the button to make the AV monitor pop up.

Speaking of AV monitor ... if you pushed it back into the hole a bit to much, it would get stuck and wouldn't come out easily. So had to push it down with just enough force so it clicked into place.

It was nice had a full lie flat seat ... but at the end of the seat (foot end) you may be able to see it is curved and not straight. So this reduces the length i.e the sleep space is not the full width - well I find it that way.

I'm sure when this F seating was a premium, it would have looked very grand. But now, she's looking a bit worse for wear.

Each to their own.

You're crazy :D

To each their own - you like what you like!

I have been lucky enough to fly F to JNB and at 5'10" the bed was plenty long for little me. We did have an awesome crew so that probably makes a huge difference!

Service ... yes agree. The service on our bird was average. When I asked for the ham & cheese toasted flat bread about 6 hrs into the flight (there was no service taking place) I was looked at like I was asking for Mr Perry himself to come down and make it for me. I was told in a huff it would be 20 mins+ to make and may be I could reconsider. I just said, fine. It eventually showed up and was nice (well anything with melted cheese after a few glasses of bubbles is nice & a Natalie Portman movie). I then polished it off and asked for the pie (can't remember the filling - was "generic" anyway). Again I was told it would take time bla bla bla ... to which I again just smiled and said that would be fine ... then lifted my glass and very politely asked for another Billy Cart Salmon - in the air I like the sweeter stuff mmmm.

But re the old F seat ... I always find it to be "smaller". But I do like the extra space around you in the cabin. I must admit that is very nice. The wooden table that pops out was also looking very tired and worn. And it's a PITA if food is on the tray as I stabbed the monitor a few times trying to get to my salad - yes I know it was the booze causing judgment issues. But I then had to have the monitor at an angle that wasn't idea for re viewing angle.

The space to my left (port side) also has a lot of extra space where the baby table thingy pops up and out. The hatch wouldn't close properly anyway. And the metal frame around the monitor hole (where the minitor slide down into) had a heap of what looked like silicon stuff (like you'd use on your shower floor) that was coming off. I can see there is no way Qantas can sell the F cabin as F. Unless it was same price as J. If I paid for F and got that I'd be very upset.

Oh and another thing ... when I got to my seat ... there was already a suit case above my seat & a big hand bag in the next overhead compartment forward. Yet I was the only one in the cabin. I got hold of a FA and pointed out there was already luggage here yet nobody else was ... and it was right above my seat + 1. He just shrugged his shoulders and said "don't worry, there is plently of space for everyone" then walked away ... to which I grabbed the bags out and placed them in the Aisle. It later turned out to be the FAs. If he had said that in the first place I wouldn't have minded. But I've had too many pax from further back in the cabin place their luggage forward. Or the other thing that crossed my mind was "left over" from a previous flight, or worse. So it was care factor zero from the FAs. Shame.

The entire flight cost was approx $10k ... when the same (via Atlanta) could be had with Delta for $8k or United for less again (but we wont go there) or Virgin.

So I guess the reason for posting the pics is I know people see the F seats on their seat maps and are curious if they are worth it or not. Again, sounding crazy, give me up in the hump and I'm happy.

Sorry - rant over.

When I flew to DFW and encountered the same thing, I was assured it was a once off!!

I also noted thick dust adhered to the underside of the over head bins and wall panels that appeared to be stuck to some oily, greasy substance. It was everywhere and I was most displeased!

Also not quite the greatest if you enjoy looking out the window with that great big panel between you and the window...

I actually would have thought F would be a bit better and wouldn't really feel like paying $16,000 (or whatever F return goes for) for that...

I also read a trip report on flyertalk of someone who flew F on Asiana i think, and he ordered just about everything of the menu trying a range of entrees and mains and from his report the crew seemed happy to serve him, while QF seems to want to make you feel guilty just for ordering a ham and cheese sandwich??? I think I know which airline i would be more inclined to go for...
