...Well Hello There notzac, Who knew you were visiting?...

Wishes granted - some photos from the W Hollywood! I'm having a mostly Wonderful time; beginning with an upgrade from a Wonderful room to a Fabulous suite on check-in at the Welcome desk. I have been over Whelmed by the helpfulness of the Welcome and Whatever/Whenever desk folk, and totally under Whelmed by the (lack of) service in the Living Room. Less talking, more photos you say? Why, of course! :D

A few thoughts to Wind up this report --
  • I was given a (relatively minor) upgrade as a SPG Gold; I can only assume they weren't heavily booked this weekend..?
  • Staff have all been nothing short of excellent, with exception to the waitress service in the Living Room. Doesn't matter who I am or what status I have, 30+ minutes wait for someone to take my drink order on a slowish afternoon is completely unacceptable (and a complaint was duly registered ... hate doing stuff like that, but it was a pretty ordinary experience).
  • 0 priority for W guests in getting in to the nightclub. If you don't have womenfolk with you, you're not getting in. Was a bit disappointing really :(

Please let me know if you have questions. :)

Nice TR, thanks.

I find the look of that guest suite quite ugly, and borderline pretentious. Mind you, that is the style of the W properties - so each to their own design preferences I suppose.

Hahah -- it's definitely a bit pretentious, it wouldn't be the W if it wasn't! ;) Still, it rates on the important things .. more than enough room to swing a cat, comfy+++ bed, decent shower (and it's not shower over bath!)

Great pics, thanks for sharing! Room looks like several kinds of fabulous indeed. Not pretentious at all - simply reflecting and forecasting the hottest trends in design and fashion, as a proper design hotel should. Especially one in LA. Definitely loads edgier than W Westwood (well, it has to be since it's newer). Hallway look a little plain/dingy though?

thanks for the pics Notzac... I must say that I had never heard of the W Hotels or resorts until I saw AFF members posting pics and sharing their experience... The look fantastic and fun... Now the challenge is for my wife to pick which one to stay at... Maldives ? Bali? Then the challenge is to find the time and money....

Maldives ? Bali? Then the challenge is to find the time and money....

Those are W Retreat&Spas so slightly different from urban Ws (and more expensive). The Retreats have a more relaxed feel given they're holiday resorts, but still hip and playful as you'd expect of the W brand. W Maldives is next on our list. Maldives has more of a novelty appeal than Bali and seems the perfect place to chill and be isolated from the rest of the world, though Bali is heaps of fun with lots of great places to party. We'll be sure to splurge on an overwater villa in Maldives or there's no point going there.

Nice pics. I stayed there late last year (didn't get a suite though) and wasn't overly impressed. I much preferred the SLS.
