Hi All,

Hope you can help.

Looking to book Perth to Paris on business (2 adults and 1 infant) using my airmiles and undecided whether to book and pay for Y class and upgrade or book an award businesses class saver flight?

I have 300 000 miles and can travel any time next year any advice on the best way to use these for the trip would be very helpful.

Also do we accrue miles on a award flight?

Thanks for the help :)

Bon Jour,

By airmiles, I assume you mean the SQ Krisflyer miles.

In my experience, I book Saver Awards to Europe. I just book them via the website. WHenever I do the sums, it seems to work out more cost effective to book the Savers when available.

One Saver Awards, no miles are accrued.

Cheers

I'd go with the J saver award flight. You might not get the upgrade but with the J-saver you know where you stand right from the start.
Try to get the A380 from SIN-CDG.

My suggestion would be to book J saver.

Perth - Paris is 144500 Points + $1033.34 AUS per person in J class so you would have enough for 2 and pay the infant fare of around 10%-15% of full fare so maybe $1500 approx , Ive done this before going Mel-Amsterdam and really enjoyed it and the Mrs was happy to be in J with bubs.

No accrual on award flights

definitely try and get on the A380 or 777300E

If you have no Saver availability out of Perth just buy two or three tickets on a flight to Singapore and back for about $500 a seat. Before that you would book the business class Saver tickets to get to Europe and back out of Singapore.
Allow 3 hours safety between the flights as a minimum.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes with the PER-SIN it is 4 hours 50 minutes so any which way can work.
From the east coast of Australia it is a longer journey.
I have been very active booking Suites Savers and some have been less points than Standard business class which always is pleasing. I have managed to use lots of the Citi points I had transferred from the warehoused points after their ATO failure back around March last year.

Thank you all for the useful responses..I have decided to play it safe and book J-class saver for the full journey as this will guarantees business class seats. :)
