Perth to Bali on Virgin - Points upgrade?

I'm travelling on VA next Feb PER-DPS return with my girlfriend. The itinerary says it will be a 737-800 both ways. I'm not exactly sure on the inclusions on Virgin these days, especially on international flights.

I think there will be complimentary meals provided on this flight, or at least cold snacks. Is this correct?

I've read about their IFE being introduced as Wireless IFE - so you can watch movies on any WiFi phone or tablet if you've downloaded the app. Could someone tell me whether this would apply to these flights (VA4161 and VA4158) or is it random luck like scoring seatback screens on 737s when flying QF?


Also I have a balance of 50 975 points with Velocity. I'm assuming Virgin now run a business class on these flights as they do on domestic. Any idea how many points a business upgrade would be for us both and would it be worth it for such a short international flight in your opinion or points better spent elsewhere?

Yep you get a meal even with a basic fare.

I have had the wifi system on these flights recently, even on planes with the seat back TV. Do remember the foxtel (seat back IFE) was turned off on these jets that had wifi installed. The wifi system is just OK. The app is very slick but the choice is a bit limited if you fly on these jets regularly. The virgin wifi app is far superior to the Qantas system on their 767s with iPads. Can I suggest taking your own entertainment as a back up. Over the last few months, Virgin has seemed to have had the system installed on all their 737s I have been on in WA. The upgrade was done pretty quickly.


Yes business class is on these flights. Upgrade points cost is very reasonable from memory. I think you have to buy a flexi fare though. Check with virgin on this.
