Crikey 7 years ago almost to the day I asked the same question - here we go again.

The Ette and myself are heading to Perth for 5nts Apr 10 - 15 and are seeking hotel recos. HH Plat - Accor Plat - but really do not care much where we stay - price not a constraint - would much rather a unique or fun exp.

Yes Exec Lounge access would be a plus but still will look at any offerings. Open to all locations - tks in advance

(Mods feel free to open the old thread and tack on bottom)

Just realized it’s the Derby on Sat 13th - couple good tix should be easy to get shouldn’t they?

The Hilton is perfectly acceptable. No lounge but you get drinks and tapas in the bar if you're diamond.

Will hear about the Westin from our son as he stayed there last night. He was using an American Express Platinum freebie.
We had lunch yesterday at Crown Towers Epicurean and that hotel seems ok but Burswood is not really in the city.

Westpac are taking us to the derby. Should be a great win for the Dockers so get your savings from the Clipper Inn to bet on that one.

Can't think of anything unique. First 2 would be my picks.

Doubletree Northbridge is nice. Quick easy walk to Yagan square through the car park and across the road to central area. Has exec lounge. I prefer it to Parmelia Hilton which feels a bit dated and has no lounge. There are plenty of eats in the area, the rooftop movie place is close. DT has a pool. There's the likes of the adult shop across the road and it can get a bit rowdy late at night but I've had a few stays and never heard or been bothered by street noise. Breakfast in the lounge or main restaurant (main more extensive). There's a pool.

Intercontinental is more central than DT and new. I don't think they have a pool if that's important. Definitely get something above a standard room. Felt a bit small, more so in the main bathroom area. Didn't think about booking lounge access and was sold out. Not a fan of the downstairs restaurant out the front and many of the cushions have stains. The upstairs bar for drinks is nice. IC definitely has a more upmarket feel to it. I think the Hilton brands have a more relaxed vibe but that's personal interpretation.

Stayed at Novotel Langley some time ago but was super brief, dumped gear went out for dinner, came back to sleep then left next day. Felt dated and wasn't impressed they hadn't removed a 3rd bed and pushed everything over towards the wall. I don't know if they've had a refurb.

Forget Ibis (although I don't think you're angling to stay there). Really noisy after dark.

Haven't stayed at Westin but looks nice. I prefer DT/IC locations. Apparently the lounge is good as well.

Four points is across from the arena, bit less central.

Stayed at Fraser Suites once which I quite like for the space of the place. There are the free buses into town but ultimately I prefer the more central locations.

There's also Peppers I've walked past. Not sure if they've fully integrated into the Accor fold.

I really like Aloft, but that's not central.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Other than the Crown options in Burswood, everything in Perth CBD is pretty central. Ie, if you don't mind a walk, it's pretty flat. Also remember you can just hope on/off buses in the CBD, East Perth and West Perth for no charge.

There is also this Boutique Hotel in Perth| Alex Hotel - Centrally located in Northbridge. I think its meant to be a bit hipster. Shadow Wine bar immediately below it is excellent.

We have previously stayed at the Crown complex (both Towers and Metropol) but managed to snag a very excellent deal at the Westin (including exec lounge access) for this trip over.

24hrs is a long time in ‘married life’ huh? This time last night when I redeemed flts the Ette was all gung ho - til this morn that is and she reads an email locking in commitments with International visitors for that very weekend.

SO

Back to moi alone - reqt for something special or unique out the window so thinking IC / Westin / DT - all have Exec Lounges right?

How is upgrade success rate for last at DT anybody know? How do Dt treat Diamonds re brekky? Upgrade success rate for Plat Elites at IC anybody know?

Tks to all for responding.

I had a great stay at the Westin recently so would add a vote there - no status and didn't visit the lounge.

There is a Ben & Jerrys nearby the DT, if that helps! Just about the only reason I go to Northbridge these days.

I did get an upgrade (possibly a double upgrade) at the Hilton as a diamond before the renovation, and pre dinner snacks and drinks in the room due to the bar being closed, but haven't been back since the renovation.
