Hi all,

Gold/Oneworld Sapphire member flying QF71, for me the first time out of Perth T4 (previously all international flights I've done out of Perth have been through Terminal 1). Was wondering how lounge access & customs now works since flying out of the regular domestic terminal? Did call Qantas on this but not really a clear answer - the consultant did their best but clearly not immediately familiar with Perth's terminal layout. Can we use the regular Qantas business lounge in T4 or is this a different area to the international section?

Regular user of T4 but never for international so is a bit of mystery to me. Anyone who could help clarify would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Assuming you have status for Biz, after going thru the domestic security routine, you are directed to the T4 Biz lounge, where they advise you that you will be paged close to boarding time. When that happens, turn left leaving the lounge and down a fairly long corridor where you then proceed thru another security check on the way to the boarding zone. I caught them out having replacement knees at this extra check, as I went thru without tripping the alarm. I asked why that would be, and the answer given that it was on 'silent' mode!

Use the J lounge (even as a SG). They will make a call in the lounge when it is time to head through security etc. You exit the lounge through a door towards the bar area, rather than the main entry. It is then pretty quick through security and immigration.

Bear in mind also that you will not have any access to the new "Int Transit Lounge" in the Int airside zone of T3, as this is solely reserved for QF9 to LHR, or pax transiting to MEL on QF10 having arrived from London. So stay in the Dom J lounge as long as possible before clearing Int security - as has been said, you are given access to this lounge as a SG rather than the QP if you're flying to SIN, even if you're in Y. The PER J lounge is on a par with BNE as the best in Aust, though I'm not sure what time in the morning they start serving the signature pizza - it was out when I arrived there at 1130 last week. Of course it's a Dom lounge though, so the bar won't be open before QF71 departs :(

Sorry to thread jack...
I haven't flown out of T3 either, (the old VA and this new QF international terminal), is outgoing immi (placing passport onto slider and face sideway camera), is it done at T3, yes?
No concrete plans to get to SIN soon, but maybe one day down the track.
Would it after that corridor and security check mentioned above?
If one day I want to do QF ADL - PER - SIN, it would be good to know.
Rationally, it would be in T3, but no one has mentioned in the replies above.
Yes, I have flown QFd ADL - PER (T4), bus to T1 for PER - SIN in about 2012/2013.
Ta.

For those of us who board in Perth, check-in is at the normal domestic T4 side, thru security and up to the domestic Biz Lounge still in T4, but the aircraft gate is in T3. For you coming from Adelaide I imagine you would be ticketed right thru to SIN, so would arrive at a gate in T4, visit the lounge in T4 and then proceed to the gate in T3 for the SIN leg.

Thanks all for the informative responses. From how I understand it, to basically summarise; access the terminal as per for a normal domestic flight, presumably bag drop the same process, go to the business lounge which Singapore/International bound gold status travellers may use then they'll call up when it's time to get moving through security/customs through the secret door then onto boarding after that.

Again, the responses are much appreciated always nice to know in advance takes some of the stress out of a new process.

BTW, the acronyms - SG and QP? only getting my head around all these.

Coming in from ADL you may actually disembark in T3, have to go to the lounge in T4 then back to T3 for the flight to SIN. It's not too much of a distance but worth noting perhaps.

Even though T3 and T4 are listed as different terminals, they're really just one terminal that combined is still smaller than most single terminals. Walking from the far end of one to the far end of the other would be less than a 5 minute stroll.

For the flight to SIN, just stay in the lounge until called.

Checking the QF booking website, especially if the potential flyer wants to go J/subclass of it, all the cheaper fares ADL - SIN want us to go backtracking via (either) MEL/SYD/BNE, and also still encourages taking the EK via MEL or the EK via BNE.
Going via PER, which means no backtracking if travelling from ADL, the fares are quite pricey.
Thanks for your replies in regards to my question though.

Similar problems here in Perth, when booking my wife a trip to TPE via HKG on the QF website, the first three options offered were via MLB, SYD and BNE. Thanks but no thanks..

Why would you expect to be able to book a revenue fare on 100% CX through the QF site (yes it’s OT)?
