Where I Live in Thailand the local airport is opening up its international wings & you can now fly 4x per week to Utapao airport from KL with Air Asia... For budget travelling at the moment you can get a ticket for around $45.. & tickets to KL from Perth with air Asia for $200, only a 2 hr stop over. $250 is a cheap & convene it one way fair to A popular destination in Thailand. So I thought I'd share this with you seeing I fly in and out every 4 weeks...

hanks very much - are there any flights to SIN?

Pattaya is sort of like the gold coast of thailand yeah?

A better description is more like Adult Disneyland (drinking and girls..or boys if thats your thing)...whilst there are nice beaches not too far from Pattaya, you wouldn't be going for the beach at Pattaya

If you think that the Gold Coast is the pedophile capital of Australia, then yes.

You must write for A Current Affair...with a sensational BS comment like that! Very unfair to suggest that...

I looked at this news, but calculating the distance and time difference from BKK, and the many flight options in/out BKK still seems like a much better option to me.

Depends on where you are, what your upto, who you want to fly with, what your budget is etc.

i just thought I'd share this as news for people, although some replies are a bit harsh, unless they have been here or lived here I suggest they keep their opinions to themselves.

BKK is only a 1.5hr taxi around 1000-1500฿ From Pattaya & of course its the main airport Utapao is good for regional flights to other locations in Thailand if your traveling around the Kingdom.

While it may or may not be true, there are plenty of positive aspects about Pattaya as a holiday destination not far from the capital.
Sure, the city has it's "wild" side, notably around 'Walking Street', but similar things can be seen in other places like Khaosan Road in Bangkok.

Ask JohnK how many good golf courses are in Pattaya, I think he's played every course a few times.
Flew over Pattaya on my way to BKK today from SIN via JetStar.

For regional flights in Asia, LCC's are not bad, just manage the expectations. Today, I bought the $27 exit row, empty seat next to me, had a sandwich and a cup of tea and enjoyed looking at the clouds. Just over 2 hrs from take off to landing, why pay over the top. I'd rather save my $$'s for a killer golf course or restaurant.

I'll write up the hotel deal on the SPG upgrade thread once I check in, waiting for the suite to be cleaned.

Cheers
BF

LOL... we must use "different" taxis.....1hr and 1000baht :D ...but they are the "Captain Risky" Taxis :D

I don't see it that way. coughet and Koh Samui more than make up for it.

What a rude point of view.

You sound like you have the same point of view as a snob at work. She goes to coughet with her husband to unwind. A single, fat, 51 year old white old male cannot possibly go to Thailand to unwind and get away from the pressures of life.

Sad indeed.

Unfair, sensational or rude to suggest it when my assertion is backed with considerable evidence? Not at all. I've stated a well known fact, plainly and simply.

Perhaps, rather than randomly and inappropriately trying to take out your frustrations, you might want to check your facts first:

....

It's just not appropriate to assert that Pattaya is not heavily associated with paedophilia. The link is palpable.
I am sorry but you have no idea what you are talking about and neither does the media. There are pedophiles everywhere. Not limited to Pattaya or Thailand. Try Vietnam. Try Cambodia. Try any poor nation around the world.

Pattaya is a wonderful holiday destination. I have been there over 30 times. It has something for everyone including families. It has the best organised organised golf in all of Thailand with some of the best golf courses in Thailand. My fiancée from Chiang Mai loves the place. She loves spending the day at golf with me. We walk all over including going down to the beach at night while she has som tum and I have a couple of beers listening to music.

What you are suggesting may occur in Boystown which is Soi 13/5 I think. A very small area in a huge city. But to tarnish the whole city is totally wrong. Just like the "lady" at work who looks down on me.
