Just put my renewal paperwork in. Will see how long it takes to get back.

Have had this passport since 3Q 2014.

Old on the left, new on the right, and that’s after leaving the new one under some weight this morning. Also ten years with the old one, and it’s still in perfect nick.

I haven't had time to get down to the Australian High Commission in London to have mine looked at (and tell me what I know due to the faulty chip) and am travelling for the next 5 weeks anyway, so will deal with the check (and likely forced renewal) when I get back. While I wince that the passport will only be 1 year old when I do take it in to them, it's 55% full at least so that helps takes a bit of the sting out as I was going to need to renew (again) in 12 months time anyway.

I assumed mine got wet/damaged in some way in transit but seeing this looks like a common issue…
I picked mine up straight from the passport office and had it in my bag until I got home where it has sat ever since. I think humidity causes it. But why? Never been a problem before.

I just had some Japanese store barcode scan my main chip page for tax free. I wonder if this is a new thing built in somewhere.
