I've just applied for a new passport and obviously forgotten that they cancel your current one once you apply for a new one. That must be a pain for frequent travellers.

It says I can track my passport application using the application number but I am stumped trying to find the site to do the tracking - does anyone have any hints.

Now I don't have a passport for a few weeks I am getting anxious in case some great deal comes up.

The passport is normally sent within a couple of weeks so hopefully you will be fine. I held off booking tickets for March next year and yesterday gave up waiting for a good price.

Priority service fee would sort out most issues... have used it a couple of times.

I don't need a priority service but just interested. They said you can track your passport progress but I'm damned if I can find it anywhere on the passport page.

I couldn’t find it recently either, I think they’ve changed the website.

I might pop into the post office and ask - I'm not that fussed but she clearly said I can track it online when she gave me the receipt

You know you get two Australian Passports if it is warranted. When I was travelling a lot I had two, the 2nd is called a concurrent passport and issued for only 3 years. I have had about 7 or 8 of these over the years. They don't advertise it but it has to be warranted i.e. for you work. I was on the road internationally almost every 2 weeks and in some countries where you had to apply for a visa that took weeks at times... having the 2nd passport was very handy and necessary indeed....

when I got mine, because Myanmar at that time took up to 5 weeks 😱 to issue a visa in Singapore, ( andI was travelling every 2 weeks to Canada), there was absolutely no questions asked as to why I needed a second passport , other than tick a box.

I’m thinking about getting one again, so I can visit Indonesia with their ridiculously strict passport condition rules. My main passport, rather battered, has a fair way to go yet.

There are no links in there to indicate tracking unless I'm being particularly thick (and that's always possible) I'm going to give it a couple of days because I only lodged it Friday and will wait until I think it's got to Canberra or wherever they do the processing and then see if anything changes on the website

So I just checked and the page where you log in now has changed and the status says Under Assessment. I shall wait patiently (or impatiently as the case may be)
