There are some great weekend rates at this hotel this winter for Gold Passport members ... A$199 per night including breakfast for 2 people. I think this is exceptional value.

if you are thinking of visiting Canberra it is worth a stay. They have the most comfortable beds in Australia I reckon. Maybe it is a good category for Conde Nast Tarveller ... most comfortable bed.

Visited here recently - the Club Lounge has been totally overhauled in terms of food and beverages - it has gone very upmarket.

Having tried most chain hotel club lounges around Australia this is now by far the best - and quality wines unlike most of them. The only place I have been more impressed was Grand Hyatt Berlin!

Although I would suggest a bit too good as there is no need to go downstairs for dinner now!;)

the Park has always had a good reputation, it is a premier hotel with a high profile being the ex Hotel Canberra.

Many famous people have passed through the place.

Wonder when its changing management, its owner normally moves the hotels across to Starwood or ICH after buying them.

I asked that question to a senior manager at Hyatt Canberra when I was there once soon after Adelaide Hyatt went to ICH - was assurred they signed a long term agreement with Hyatt prior to or during the sale (can't remember which)- assume it was too valuable a property for Hyatt to risk losing? Hope this is correct - would be a shame to see a landmark Canberra hotel change chain.

This offer still on do you know?

Excellent property , great lounge. i was there for only one night. didnt want to leave.

Nice hotel best by far in Canberra. Love the bike hire and the exe lounge of course. Price wise the cheapest I could find direct on the hyatt website is $275.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Rates are frequently $245. I believe this is the cheapest you'll find, but never during a parliamentary sitting week (Sunday to Thursday nights). Just in the past week I've seen them offer AP rates of $247.50 when the $245 (which is not an AP) is unavailable. It's a very nice property but some of the staff need a bit of refining for a Park.

I didn't spot your question, paul7. Sorry.

As far as I know they have special pricing regularly over summer for Gold Passport members. The last offer I got was for weekends in March at $205 (including breakfast for 2).

Doesn't seem to be as much over winter.

Just stayed there last weekend for 1 night with short notice, price was $245 no breakfast.

Yes, they do, but one must remember that it is Canberra.

I recommend an exchange program with PH Tokyo to improve standards in Canberra, but heaven only knows what might happen to standards in Shinjuku!

I've searched many Saturday dates in February, March, April and May of next year at this property and almost all of them have an advance purchase rate of $342. That's a significant increase on the $224-$245 and seems ridiculous to me.

I would never book an advance purchase rate that far in advance. When you look up rates like that, often the hotel hasn't uploaded them and it defaults to much higher rates.

In January I booked the PH Istanbul for August and the rate was 450 Euros/night for the base room. My PL agent contacted me 2 weeks ago to inform me that the rate had reduced to 300 Euros, and she had already altered my reservation for me.

If you need to book in advance, it pays to book a rate that can be altered, and it pay to check every few weeks.
