What are the experiences of paying for international upgrades on BA? I'm flying SYD-LHR through singapore later in the year and have done some research on getting upgrades with BA. It seems that about a week before the flight there are discounted upgrades through the manage my booking on the BA website but also an option for paid upgrades at check in.

Have people been successful in getting this offer? I also have a vego meal attached to my booking so I was thinking of taking it off if it means upgrading at a much better chance. I'm not a real vego, I just find that the vego meals are much much tastier :)

I haven't done one lately, but a few years back I bought a PE upgrade from Y at the counter in Singapore on a SIN-SYD leg. I recall it was well priced as well.

I was offered one once but was young and inexperienced and tired so I declined, would have been nice to travel in F though

Hi,

There is a whole thread on BA upgrades at FlyerTalk forum:

The ultimate UPGRADE thread - FlyerTalk Forums

Basically BA doesn't do operational upgrades anymore and all are paid upgrades. However they are hard to come by on the BA Syd to LHR route so if you get offered one at a reasonable price then take it fast.

Good luck,

Dale.
