I thought I'd help you guys out by paying for a subscription, but I still get messages telling me to turn off my ad blocker.

Not impressed, I have an ad blocker to try and stop all the cough that I receive from many sites that bombard me with ads for russian girl friends, gambling, sexual impotence pills and the like, very tedious to say the least.

I find ads an intrusion upon my privacy, how many people on here enjoy being hit with lots of ads for services like the above?

Needless to say I won't be renewing my subscription, there are always other ways to view your site without annoying ads. Now to cancel my paypal recurring debit.

Can understand it may be frustrating, but have you contacted support/admin regarding this? If not your jumping the gun and totally overreacting without at least giving them the opportunity to assist.

Not at all! It's appalling. Admin insist on their stupid addblock blocking. It's just silly for paid members. For example, if I clear my safari cache, the bloody AFF website doesn't give me enough time to login again before stuffing the page with the stupid addblock Block message.

Addblock protects the personal information of the user. AFF have no right to enable and steal personal information from their members by selling users information to third parties (Nancy of whom of which the have no idea whose script/app they force on the end user.)

While I appreciate that the admin is zealous in making money from coughpy adds and information stealing bots they foist on us, the intrusion is extremely zealous.

Being in IT for some 30 years, I have had several arguments with admin to no avail.

The pollicy is simply short sighed and frankly stupid and very annoying and should be illegal.

On my PC, no problem since I can write a script to get around the addblock sillyness. On the iPad, it's very very very irritating.

And I'm a paid up member. :(

You can whitelist AFF, like I did when the Adblock issue was first mentioned on here, and there's no problem.

I've actually got a browser running completely without an ad blocker right now that regularly visits AFF, Facebook and a few other social sites... and I face no issues. Clearly we browse different websites... and that may be where your issue is. Ads are a part of life.

As for Cossie's issue, if they get in touch with admin to discuss the situation then we can perhaps work together to sort out why there's a problem. The previous incarnation of the ad block blocking tool only affected free members, but I know there were some recent updates to the backend of the website that may have caused some issues. Communication is key.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

No. Why should we whitelist AFF and allow theft of personal information just for the monetary benefit of AFF when we are paying members. Should be illegal under Australian privacy laws.

No, sorry, been there done that so communication is not the key since AFF admin refuse sensible solutions and insist on continuing the absurd addblock policy.

The AdBlocker shouldn't effect paid members. If it does, please PM me (or support) so we can investigate. BTW, it also doesn't effect the vast majority of our users who either don't use an Ad Blocker, or have white-listed AFF.

I'm not going to comment on some of the other posts on this thread, other than saying that I don't "argue" with any AFF member. We also don't "steal" or "sell" personal information. One of the reasons AFF has been around for almost 20 years is that we treat all members, and any personal information, with respect.

I'm now going to close this thread, as we don't discuss AFF Management Practices (or Moderation) publicly.
