So having been fortunate enough to try some of the more 'fabled' lounges -TG BKK F Lounge, LH FCT FRA , the CCR in LHR, the Wing in HKG and given that I will be 'ticking off' the EY DXB F Lounge when taking QF10 in F on my upcoming only trip ever (probably) to Oz, I'd love to gain access to the F Lounge in MEL or SYD.

Unfortunately my return will be ex-BNE and BNE has no F Lounge (to speak of :)

So my question is - is there any way to book an 'internationally-connecting' MEL-SYD QF flight which would leave from the international terminal in MEL on the way to SYD, or similarly is there any SYD-BNE (or basically anywhere on the queensland coast) flight which would leave from the SYD international terminal and allow access to the SYD F Lounge?

(alternaively is there any access to the MEL F lounge after arrival on QF10? - I assume not given the late arrival and my research to date)

My travel plans are fairly flexible, so I could make whatever 'adjustments' might be needed to make this happen, albeit as a non-QF OWE I do not think using any Jetstar flight options will work.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Simply, no.

Your best bet is to book a flight to NZ.

Something like SYD-AKL-BNE may work for you.

You couldn't do the return ex-MEL or SYD (depending on time of day) with a (longish) domestic connection from BNE-SYD or BNE- MEL?

Return from MEL/SYD - not an option - QF61 to NRT on new A330 product booked for return via Japan.

However flying Syd-AKL-BNE is not completely out of the question ... I'm assuming that I might be able to get such a routing on miles probably without paying any penalty - will need to see if SWMBO would wear the idea.

There used to be a number of these connecting flights but they have gradually disappeared, apart from the occasional JQ flight (only useful to QF Plat not OW Emerald) (but even these seem on the outer)

We availed ourselves of the ,JQ option MEL-SYD , a few weeks back. Had a nice time n the ,,MEL F lounge

Was going to suggest JQ but those are few and far between these days :(

JQ is not available to the OP

I'm not quite sure why the OP (non QFF OWE) couldn't use JQ. As a OWE they're entitled to the F lounge, and with flex plans, doing a MEL-SYD on JQi would get them access (or SYD-MEL) and then get up to BNE sadly I think domestic is the only option.

Am I missing something obvious here? (probably :D )

OW elites don't get lounge access on JQ unless flying the correct class of service - Jetstar isn't a OW airline or affiliate.

There was a thread on here a while back where a non-QF OWE (status matched I believed) was getting very annoyed that they would not be able to access the F lounge on a price matched JQ fare between MEL and SYD.

It was quite entertaining to be fair!

In any event I can't see any JQ flights from Dom terminals through end of year after some quick spot checks

yeah they seem to have closed those down. Understandable but disappointing lol

I think NZ may be the only option is one *REALLY* wants to try these lounges. There is a decent QF J fare on that one could do either on QF (jetconnect) metal or EK codeshare, or even the LA flight SYD-AKL.

though I personally wonder if it would be worth the time and expense just for trying the lounges. nice as they are.. but everyone's priorities and goals vary of course :)

Just randomly - it occurs to me to check as to whether GUEST access to the F Lounge in SYD or MEL or possible if flying domestic QF?

I would assume not, but it occurred to me to check..... My assumption is that this is not possible because access to the lounge is after security/immigration, but you know what they say about assumptions.

You cannot access the Int Lounges at SYD/MEL unless flying internationally as they are airside.

As Princess Fiona stated, the lounges are airside. Without a boarding pass showing an International terminal departure, you won't get through security/immigration to Airside.

Just an aside to this that I've noticed JQ 15 runs MEL-CNS at least on Wednesday's for the next little while at 0740.

Max J bundle $689 gives 60 SC (yeah, not great value there!) or $369 for Y MAX fare (30SC) $179 Plus bundle(well this will vary on avail Y fares of course) for 15 SC and "$66 of included value" including a whopping $5 f&b voucher ;)
