Glad I saw this. I will miss this promo but my future CC spending plans have now been redirected.
Yes, even without the bonus MR to SPG to Marriott to UA is a decent deal, particularly the Marriott packages. Personally have no urgent need of a Marriott hotel but can see great possibilities in the future.

Very good value if we can get SQ one way in J from SYD to South east asia , do you know award seat avail is good or not

Re: Opportunity to leverage this offer for UA points (18,667 SPG = 31,250 United Mile

You don't need to signin to United to check availability but it's pretty good IMO

Re: Opportunity to leverage this offer for UA points (18,667 SPG = 31,250 United Mile

Have I got it right in thinking that 150,000 Amex MR points = 125,000 MileagePlus miles via SPG and Marriott? Those miles are then enough for 2 x business class returns to SE Asia with low taxes. If used on SQ the 2 x business class returns more with over $1,000 in taxes.

I do not have an active SPG account and I am not a member of Marriott? Can I get started and complete it by end November?

Re: Opportunity to leverage this offer for UA points (18,667 SPG = 31,250 United Mile

The conversion rate of 56,000 Marriott to 25,000 MileagePlus appears to be a discounted conversion rate based on being a RewardsPlus member which you can only join if you are a Marriott or MileagePlus status holder. Anyone know if this conversion rate still apply to non status members?

Not quite as the maximum bonus miles is 20,000. Your 150,000 Amex will equal 120,000 MileagePlus.

You should be able to open spg and link mariott almost instantly. MR points transfer to SPG in a couple of days. SPG to Marriott is instant. The Rewards Plus issue wasn't one I was aware of and could be a fly in the ointment

Edit:the FAQs on Marriott imply registration with RewardsPlus not required for bonus miles and open to all members (sorry can't post link)

Thanks. Sounds good. Need to call SPG and reactivate account then sign up to Marriott.

Worth noting that the 7-day Marriott stay doesn't have to be for the same trip as you use the UA miles on

Is there a 7 night stay included? I did not take that much notice.

It's an option for redemption. Potentially good value

Re: Opportunity to leverage this offer for UA points (18,667 SPG = 31,250 United Mile

Recently transfer 50K MR To 25K SPG Looking for Redemption in SPG Hotel but have now changed my mind , it look like much better value to United to South East Asia trip we looking at next year . I can see 30K one way business class via Thai Airway with $84 AUD Tax . Can't see any SQ Award on United .

Only short dated SQ availability I believe!

Is it one or the other or both? Confused.

90K Starpoints transfers into 270K Marriott Rewards points. That can be used for 152K United miles and 7 nights in a Marriott category 1-5 hotel with the 20K bonus miles from this United promotion. Even if you don’t use the 7 night hotel certificate being able to transfer 90K Starpoints into 152K United miles is an effective 68.9% transfer bonus!

Re: Opportunity to leverage this offer for UA points (18,667 SPG = 31,250 United Mile

Ok Johk to answer your question if you transfer 90K starpoint across to MR (3:1) and use the package you are essentially getting 7 consecutive night stay along with 152k points (132 base pt + 20k pts bonus) for UA for 270k MR points. The points can be used at the same time (hotel + flights) OR you can use the two separately. Hope that answers your questions

Re: Opportunity to leverage this offer for UA points (18,667 SPG = 31,250 United Mile

Still slightly confusing.

How do you get the 7 consecutive nights? Marriott? And you get this even if you transfer the points out of Marriott to MileagePlus?

Is there a minimum amount of Starwood points I need to transfer get the 7 consecutive nights? Does this have to be 200,000 Marriott points?

I am assuming the 56,000 Marriott points = 25,000 Mileage Plus transfer is always available but the 25% bonus is the sweetener with this promotion? So if I transfer 56,000 Starwood points I get 168,000 Marriott points which should give me 93,750 Mileage Plus miles. Does this also include a 7 night redemption?

I have ~280,000 Amex MR points gathering dust as SQ fuel surcharges are horrendous and not likely to change anytime soon. Would I be better off transferring enough for 20,000 bonus MileagePlus mioes now and wait for similar promotion next March? I'd like to maximise the 7 award nights. There's a Courtyard in South Pattaya that is not close to golf bar but 7 free nights is 7 nights I do not have to pay out of my pocket.

Too many questions and unfortunately don't seem to be able to digest this promotion 100%. Also it has been confirmed that non status members of Marriott/MileagePlus still get bonus points?

Re: Opportunity to leverage this offer for UA points (18,667 SPG = 31,250 United Mile

This is the package that everyone is talking about. Flight and Hotel Packages | Marriott Hotel Packages

So you can see I'm going to convert my 90k starpoints to Marriot Rewards and then choose the 7 nights + 132,000 MP points + 20k bonus points for 270k Marriot Rewards point.

Hopefully reading this will make sense as well.

Also check what category the hotel in Pattaya is as well to know which package you need to redeem.
