I have an open jaw ticket returning to SIN with the return date on 30 Jun 08. I just realised that it has expired and I forgot to change my return date!!

My agent has put 30 June 08 as I booked in last Sept. She mentioned she could not put any date later than 30 June 08. Initially I wanted to put somewhere in Dec 08.

Can I still get this ticket valid again or can i get a partially refund given that I have only flown one way? I definitely don't want to waste my ticket as I have spent a bomb on this ticket.:(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Even if you could they are generally limited to 12 months on most tickets so Sept would be about the latest. You would have to give the airline and booking class any maybe somebody can check the rules on what happens when you miss the flight, some times its just ring up and change it.

I am not sure it being an open jaw would make any difference to this.

Hi Ellein,

The airlines do sometimes reinstate bookings depending on the situation.

Depending on who your agent is, it would be better if they contact the airlines industry line or the local rep and ask them if its possible.

Even if they come back and say it isn't, still try ringing yourself as a second option, it's just a matter of getting to the person who has the power to say yes and reinstate it.

Good luck.

It al depends on the refund rules for the fare you purchased. You should ask the travel agent that issued the ticket about the options available to you.

I would recommend exhausting all avenues to reinstate the booking first as you're likely to get a negligible amount back putting it in for a refund (assuming it's refundable after departure)

Airlines assess refunds by taking what you paid, taking off what a one way ticket would have cost, plus the cancellation penalty, and the rest is yours, though given one ways are usually 3/4 of the cost of a return, its usually not much.
