I hear lots of horror stories of A330s ("the business") being subbed out to 737s for East coast -> PER, but does it ever happen the other way?

I booked a trip BNE-PER next April in J, but due to timing had to pick the 737 flights. Secretly hoping it might get swapped out closer to the date.

What is the flight number?

While not impossible, I'd say the chances of an aircraft swap to an A330 are pretty unlikely. VA has 6x A330s and 75x B737s in its fleet.

Va466 bne-per, va469 per-bne

Never seen an A330 on VA466 so chances here are very slim. VA469 is normally an A330 during the week and on some Saturdays so you have a shot of this flight being upgraded (unless flying on a Sunday).

I have had a flight (VA468) go from an A330 to a 737 and back to an A330 over a period of a few months, so it can happen..... 99% of the time it will be a downgrade however and like QF, PER-BNE is always the first to get downgraded if an A330 drops out of the system for maintenance etc.

Is travelling via SYD or MEL to get the A330 an option?

thought about it, but couldn't convince my partner to turn a 5 hour trip into an 8 hour trip! plus it was going to be another 60K points (15k pp each way)
