So, I could be a bit a of a joke.

I wonder if my edit to the title will stick!

(For anyone who missed the original post ... I was coughing that QF had suddenly more than doubled the points required on a certain route, however, it may be that I was pricing it in combination on a multi-leg)

Egg. Face. All over mine!

What's the route? I haven't heard of any fare table increase recently. Maybe someone else already grabbed the seats you wanted?

Drama much? Want to explain the situation for us to comment or just put a way over the top and rather rude and aggressive thread title up?

No - its not seat availability. My first thought was that the website problems may have been the cause, so I checked the points calculator on the website, and they've bumped up the cost on various routes, but the one that screws me is the more than doubling of DXB - middle Europe points required (24K to 50K) ... seems like its been switched to the same "zone" as the UK.

Yep, much drama for a good reason ... an increase in points ... not fun, but more than DOUBLE! That's coughry in my book!

I haven't noticed any changes, having just booked four European award flights ex DXB. Could you please give us the precise route?

Not sure what you are doing but just checked DXB-LHR and it is 50000 in J as zone 4 and 22500 in Y as a zone 4.

Not sure what your issue is and or why you are saying doubled???

24,000 would be a J award for 601~1200 miles, 50,000 would be for 2,401~3600 miles. Perhaps those coughs at Qantas moved your desired two cities further apart without warning you?

Strange post from OP. Lack of detail means no one can check on the claims made, offer any alternatives/solutions to the problem or feel any sympathy.

It's quite possible that the OP has just made a mistake and that this can be pointed out for him/her. But a failure to provide any relevant details is nonsensical.

I would imagine this would be more productive for the OP if instead of ranting, they'd disclose where they wanted to head from DXB and in which class so the esteemed members here can investigate.

Tried to add image, but not a master of this site yet!

Middle Europe = Warsaw, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, etc..

Maybe availability is now only in business, before it was in economy. I just can't work out how you could ever get from DXB to Central Europe for 24 k. It is either 22.5k or 28k.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Prior to today*, it was certainly 24,000 for J to the cities listed.

EDIT: If I'd known this would happen, and the quantity of skeptics, I would have taken a snapshot of the points calculator!

*Or this weekend, may not have checked it yesterday, but it was there before. Been checking it for months, via booking and also on the points calculator months ago.

Sorry to say Infrequent but it's ben 50k since January.

QF award table.jpg

According to gcmap DXB-BUD is 2,493 miles

If you had a Zone 3 trip and added on 2496 miles, you could conceivably take it up to Zone 5, which would mean an extra 24,000 points.

The same for going from Zone 5 to Zone 7 or from 6 to 8.

So in that sense the DXB-BUD leg may have appeared to be 24,000 points. But in isolation it would have been 50,000 points.

One possibility is that you previously looked for a connection of less than 24 hours, and subsequently for a longer connection, thereby causing the two legs to price separately.

Apologies, and the thread can be deleted or "shamed" or "sin binned" if it was a case of multi-leg pricing being different ... I had seen some pricing variance in that case, but was sure it wasn't that much!

Anyway ... sorry Qantas if I was wrong! I am an Infrequent Flyer after all!:oops::oops:
