Hello everyone.

Has anyone else seen that Cheap Flights At Best Flights-Online Travel Agents Australia is offering a 5~ stop round-the-world fare with Qantas, Cathay, Finnair and British Airways? The lowest available price seems to be $2029, then upwards.

Has anyone booked through this website before? I usually use it as a guide to see what's on offer then head to the operating airlines website to book, but this deal seems only to be available through their website.

I haven't, and while I'm sure there are many satisfied customers, there have been a few negative experiences reported on AFF, usually related to exorbitant change/cancellation fees imposed by Best Flights (in addition to the airlines' fees). It is thought by some that this is a key way for BF to make money, and my vague recollection is that some of the BF fees have been huge, and also one story where they quoted huge fees at the time of booking, then charged (or attempted to) much huger fees than quoted when the pax wished to change or cancel.

If $2029 is the all-inclusive price then it is very good. I'm not going to recommend yea or nay, but just would advise to get everything in writing including BF-imposed fees, then consider very carefully whether it is worth the risk of having to modify and cop their fees for doing so. If they won't give it to you in writing prior to purchase then I wouldn't use them.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Best Flights is known as Best Frights around here.

When I looked at similar fares some years ago I told them I wanted that exact routing they quoted. That is, if the $2029 is an inclusive fare than it must be based on an actual routing with actual dates and carriers. My experience was the eventual price is always notably higher which made me think the quoted price was to 'get you in the door'.

I have bought from them more than once several years ago and don't recall any issues. They were based in WA then.

I too was caught by extortionate cancellation fees some years ago.
Fortunately found a Travel Agent that would match any online price (ex Oz) and provided better service.

Mind you I seem to be doing DONE4s and JASAs these days so not much custom from me

It would be useful to post the actually reservation (fare) booking code where these specials are able to be purchased through a TA. It saves a lot of grief in the TA education process when you have a reasonable starting point. And it makes looking up the restrictions a lot easier.

Thanks for the happy wandering

Fred

Note this is a FROM fare - ie it will be going via cheapest hubs and airports etc. I would add on at least $600 for the routing you choose!

Same as me - I have never once been able to get a cheap fare as advertised with these guys. Even on the day the specials are posted, I call and ask "just tell me what date the special is actually available and I'll decide if I can travel that day". The response is always along the lines of me having to tell them first what specific day I want to travel. Have even engaged in a long discussion of "let's try day x. No?, Lets try day y. No? lets try day z. No?" until I got bored after trying successive dates for two weeks. You have to wonder how to prove the special is actually available.

Exactly. I think they're in need of an ACCC investigation.
