Can anyone please help me from own experience? Last year I flew to Australia return on a QF ticket and received Avios points for the EK operated flights, no issue at all (as indicated on the BA website). I'm now thinking of a SIN-SYD flight booked through Qantas and this time luggage allowance is the issue rather than my Avios.
If I book through QF and on a QF flight number but on EK metal, do I still get my additional luggage allowance through my BA Gold membership? I thought originally that this would be a no deal but what then did strike me as strange, and hence my question, is that on the Qantas website, under tier benefits, for Sapphire benefits it uses the following wording the the specification on the bottom of the page:

37. On flights operated or marketed by any oneworld partner airline, Sapphire members travelling in Economy and Premium Economy on international or domestic itineraries using the baggage allowance “weight” system receive 15 kgs in addition to the ticketed Economy allowance; on international itineraries (including domestic sectors flown as part of international itineraries) using the baggage allowance “piece” system – receive a second bag, weighing up to 23 kgs, when the ticketed allowance is one bag

If this applies to EK operated but OW marketed flights for the Sapphire benefits, then I wonder whether this applies to the benefits of a higher tier as well. I had asked the same question on Flyertalk and got ripped to shreds just because OneWorld would (of course!) say no to this. But then the above quote on Sapphire benefits doesn't make sense either and the fact that you not only earn Avios points but even status credits also doesn't really sit with simple Oneworld rules and it still works. Would be great if anyone had first hand experiences with this and apologies if this has been asked before- I've been gone for almost three years now and have lost track a bit with everything regarding the flying Roo. EK's systems don't recognise BA status so the answer would be no.

A few notes:

(a) A quick search suggests that EK don't actually operate a direct SIN-SYD flight, but codeshare a QF metal flight SIN-SYD (EK5062). You may however fly EK metal ex-SIN if you transfer through some other airport like PER or MEL.
(b) Best I can tell Qantas allowance would be 30kg in any number of bags for Economy, this may be enough (i.e. not 23kg) - though you didn't mention what you were after specifically
(c) Reading the Qantas page at Checked Baggage Allowance | Qantas - you'll see that generally they note that codeshare services may not honor status baggage allowances even for QF's own frequent flyers (except Emirates) - a good indication (but not direct statement) that the OneWorld allowances are not likely to apply to QF-EK codeshares.

The language you quoted is however confusing.

Thank you and sorry, I didn't specify in enough detail- I'm looking at a SIN-MEL-SYD routing as you're correct, no EK flights from SIN to SYD directly. The thing is- there's more availability on that routing and it costs exactly the same on the A380. As much as I love QF and believe the service is usually better or at least more consistent than EK, the aircraft type would make me prefer that option. And I'm looking at Business class so it's a matter of whether I get 40 or 60kg which makes a big difference. Especially if you're re-locating permanently and pretty much carry your entire life with you :p

I believe myself it's a no go too. Just that strange wording on the QF website really puzzles me- I could very well imagine that in practice, if you went first on QF and then on EK, they'd probably just let it through. But as I'd be checking in with EK in Singapore, I guess no chance!

No EK flight between PER and SIN
