This OW map will help with question 1.

I can’t help with 2. Sorry.

3. Yes, book when they become available.

4. Refer to the map. I find it really helpful to plan sectors in combination.
I'm in the same category as Azusa. My understanding is you need to jump at a booking as it becomes available and wear the extra points it costs for each change.
Where is the best place to start the booking and generate the OWA booking reference?

That occurs when you book the first flight(s).
If you can do it online, great.
If not, you'd have to ring up.

My Understanding is that calling just after the Australian call centre opens (6am est?) May get you a local operator. You could start the call by claiming that you have received inconsistency from their side, as opposed to blaming the denial of the rule directly. Ultimately you want it escalated to a manager. I think playing dumb being like "oh why isn't it working?!" As opposed to "this should work make it work" will get you more points.

That's how I got a flight home from JFK to PER via HEL, LHR, DOH and HKG back in USDM days... "It looks like the fastest way home..."

Hi guys

Just reporting back after the TORRID experience i've had with QF this last week trying to get some kind of booking in prior to September... After the website kept breaking on me I tried getting them to help me via phone, text and facebook and absolutely none of them understood the rules for this fare, nor seemed inclined to want to help at all.

TBH I was flabbergasted by the whole experience. I'm still waiting back to hear from them on FB since Thursday, text since yesterday and a promised return phone call at 11am this morning (that's 13 hours ago for those keeping score.

If anyone needs assistance getting flights in, DO IT ASAP!!!

Thank god my sheer stubbornness won out, because I've found an itinerary that worked for me:

MEL-HKG-JFK-MIA-JFK-AMM-KUL-NRT-MEL (business, hell yes.)

33,600 miles. Couldn't get to South America in the end because I couldn't book IB on the QF tool (thanks for the tip on that one). Also went to major pains to avoid BA - by flying JFK-AMM (RJ) rather than JFK-LHR-AMM (BA), I saved over $1100pp. NUTS.

In the end, fees and charges were $2500 for 2; pretty good, considering I have some pretty sweet flights.

Anyway, thanks folks - couldn't have managed it without you.

Now for a breather and then going to see if I can slip another flight in somewhere.

Cheers
Ross

One of the routes I booked, is 293 days, some guide online says usually 297 days for bronze.

Thank you, guess I'll keep trying from 297 days. Sometimes I think this booking is consuming me. But all the posters on here give alot of hope.

And to think I had my first OWCA sorted.....
After lots of changes to what I was attempting I finally decided on the trip below. when I do dummy bookings I continually get error messages.
I believe I have covered all bases with only 5 stopovers, not more than 2 transits in any city and less than 35,000 miles. All sectors will be booked before the first one starts.

Could someone please look at my proposal to see if I am doing something wrong before I have no hair left.

SIN-DOH Transit
DOH-LHR Stop over
LHR-JFK Stop over
JFK-HKG Transit
HKG-BKK Stop over

Return to AUS for 10 months and then back to BKK using cash and then

BKK-DOH Stop over
DOH-NBO Stop over
NBO-DOH Transit
DOH-SIN

I suspect the booking engine is having problems with DOH.

Trying to combine two trips in one...

Many thanks in advance for any responses.

Anyone Anyone? It won't be pretty seeing a grown man cry.....

Seriously if someone could run a beady over my itinerary that would be great as if it's OK I need to book the first few sectors within 7 days.

Thanks Brain's Trust.

Can you list the airlines for each sector?

You know you have to book all segments before you travel your first segment

I agree, I'd suggest your issue us NBO-DOH-SIN is probably a married segment. Can you get from SIN to LHR via a method other than DOH? HKG perhaps? that way you can keep your other two transits in DOH. (I'm assuming you don't actually want to go to Doha).

Start with a couple of sectors and go through to the payment screen. Add a couple more sectors and repeat. Once you get the error message you’ll then know which sectors are causing you problems.

Yeah I think DOH is your problem.

You are officially allowed 2 transits and 1 stopover in any one city. However, I've had this problem with QR previously; something to do with QR not allowing it (some BS to do with local citizens trying to avoid tax, so I was told). Sounded like a load of rubbish to me but I have never been able to get 2 transits and 1 stopover in DOH on the same itinerary.

Try going from SIN to LHR via somewhere other than DOH.

Hi,

more questions from me again, so i try to put through a test flight and some how the last leg broken the rules, i am not entirely sure what rule i have broken because according to Great Circle Mapper i am well within the 35k miles limit

I can't see where i transit through the same place more than twice, and my understanding they are all one world partners

Would you mind to have a look and see what could have broken it? As soon as I click on the last flight it went from 280k points to 432k points

MEL-ICN (JL - Tokyo transit)
ICN-MXP (QR - Doha transit)
MXP-PRG (IB - Madrid transit)
PRG - MCO (BA- London transit)
MCO - HKT (BA/ QR - London and Doha transit)
HKT - MEL (this is where it broke, KA/CX - Hong Kong transit)

thanks!
