Hi all,

Thanks to @Mattg in my holiday planning thread, I'm considering acting on his advice for my OneWorld Award ticket starting in mid October 2018

**Part 1**
1. MEL > KUL in J on MH
2. KUL > NRT in J on MH
3. NRT > HNL in J on JL
**Separate transit back to MEL**
**Part 2, 6 months later**
4. YVR > JFK in F on CX
5. JFK > LHR in F on BA
**Separate transit to HEL**
6. HEL > DOH in J on QR, DOH > MEL in F on QR

Any feedback on the above, risks, and/or additional suggestions of maximising points redemption?

When the flights become available on the dates I want, can I book the first two MH flights online then call Q and add the JL leg? Once those three legs are booked, is it all easy to book the rest of the flights online or do I need to add to them via the phone as well?

Once you have booked the initial flight(s) every time you make a change you have to do so via the phone and incur a 5,000pt change fee. Make sure they don't charge you the 8,000pt service fee as well.

For my final flight home I am looking at 1xJ on QF74 SFO - SYD around 30 July 2018.
J seats on these flights seemed to have dried up.
As I don't have status can someone who does see if there is any award availability around this time?

As QF SG, I am seeing 1 x J seat available on 30 July 18 along with the following dates:

• 28 July 18
• 3 Aug 18
• 5 Aug 18
• 6 Aug 18

Does it count as a transfer if you fly into JFK and out of LGA within 24 hours? Or does it have to be in and out of the same airport?

It counts as a NYC transit but it also burns up an extra sector.

For those of you with AB long haul flights from 16/10/2017 onwards that AB has now officially cancelled in the GDS, QF will rebook you into a commercial class, IF there is no award availability. That means you will earn points/status credits on the new flights. It's up to your imagination from there...

QF has already started to proactively hold seats on other oneworld carriers to accommodate the AB cancellations.

QF will most likely attempt to call you in the coming days if they haven't already.

You should NOT be charged any additional taxes or fuel fines for re-routing onto another carrier, as it is an involuntary re-route.

Thing is, if you try and make a change (add segments) to a booking with confirmed AB flights, it won't let you reissue the ticket. The window has passed to "hold on" to those segments.

Just a question

Me and my wife booked around the world award with qantas. I managed to do changes prior to starting the trip. however i have the following flights left

KEF - LHR
LHR - VCE
FCO - MAD
MAD - HKG
HKG - MEL

the only segment which i could only book economy was MAD - HKG. theres availability now for business only 2 hr 45 min flight. however qantas said since i started the journey, i cannot make changes. i could only change dates unless the flights was in australia only.

is there anyway to change this ? i'm actually waiting on FCO - HKG instead but nothing as yet.

help appreciated.

Doesn't look like it based on this rule.

14.7.9 The following changes are not permitted to any Classic Flight Reward within 24 hours before departure from the point of origin of the first Flight Segment on the Itinerary:

(a) change to class of travel;
(b) change to any Segment routing or airline; and
(c) change to name (only for Flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number on the ticket that are operated by Qantas).

QF have previously told me this condition is very strictly applied.
I was wondering if anyone has been able to change a booking after travel commenced.
If so, under what circumstances?

Look up "married segments". Just because there is availability A-B-C (transit in B), does not mean there is separate availability A-B and B-C - and vice versa.

Hi all, I've been playing around with the (old) QF multi-city booking tool to price some OWE tickets. I can select all the flights fine & it all comes to 280,000 QFF points, then when I confirm the last flight it is always popping up and error saying it can't process the itinerary.

Has anyone had this issue before?

Eitherway shouldn't be charged the service fee to rectify it. It took a long while (1 to 2 hours), and they didn't advise how it was solved (maybe another seat was released, because of the shown availability?).

Thanks for that. I think I will have to call the centre when I'm ready to go ahead with it all (won't be till early next year as rewards are released), as every search I do results in errors - so frustrating.
